In-laws and niece and nephew coming to visit. Wife is going into frenzied cleaning mode. I tried to tell her we've barely even lived here. Chit can't be that dirty

Happy Saturday folks. Cold in the desert today.

The final four are in the hood and playing today.

Cloudy, rainy and cold here, been that way all week. Tomorrow it's supposed to warm up, I'm going to mow for the first time of the season.

Heading to Sam's Club-- bout an hour and 15 min away.

Wife is happy about it.

We only go two or three times a year, but if you buy enough durable goods on each visit there isn't a need to go more than a handful of times per year anyway.

I know it's an awesome grocery store too, but we don't have the luxury of using it for that purpose. Plus we buy our beef from a cattle farmer and grow our own vegetables.

As far as dry goods, we buy a ton. Sometimes I even buy whiskey, even though the wife and I don't drink alcohol. Barter system works if you have what people want.

I once paid a guy to tear down a building on this property with a fifth of Wild Turkey 101, two cases of Bud Light and he got to keep the scrap metal. Lol!

People are crazy AF around here. I fit right in. :)

You guys have a good weekend.

Appraisal too high?

2 bed 2 bath 880sqft unincorporated County no trash no water no sewer no sidewalk on a busy road etc. Now they say worth $400k.

13 years ago it was $60k.

2019 it was 180k.

Similar homes in my area have sold recently for $160-220.

Makes my dream of building a barn a lot less attainable.

I left IL because of the taxes.

So did everyone else.

Now that we've doubled our population with IL expats, the IL taxes have followed them.

Just picked the last of the Meyer lemons trying to not knock off any of the new blossoms. I feel like a pin cushion. Gave a few sacks full to the neighbors and the rest will be sliced or juiced and put in the freezer for summer drinking.

Mowed the lawn where I could. Still too wet to mow even half of it.

Had to give wife my pager and told her to call me if it goes off, then put my earbuds in under my earmuffs so I could hear if she called my phone.

Took my last batch of jerky to work. Old job it would sit there for a week. New job it was gone in a day. So I gotta make more. Bought a 4lb eye of round and sliced it up. Napping in marinade overnight and make jerky tomorrow.

I think it's time for another garage cigar.

That's almost 500/square foot, which sounds preposterous given your descriptions of your home.

Does it have dual zoning so that a commercial building could be on it and/or do you have a lot of valuable land, perhaps?

Once again, sitting in the garage, listening to music, sipping my Crown and smoking a cigar. Wife comes home from a craft show, opens the garage door and...its snowing AGAIN! Another Saturday, another snow storm, so much for our first rain of the year...

Happy Saturday. Watching my Penguins hopefully break a tie after they blew a 4-1 lead in half a period.
They just scored as I'm typing this 5-4 Penguins!

Dual zoning ag/res. I do have a few acres but it's not exactly valuable. To do anything here they'd have to buy all the houses on the street every lot is at least an acre, I have two lots. It's also in a swamp but developers have bought up all the vacant land in the area.

2nd page was better than the first page, it has the deductions and caps n stuff. Actual tax is 2300. But in bold on the first page it says "maximum tax that may be imposed" of 3800. Looks like they dropped my mortgage deduction, so at least I can try to get that back.

I got a cheap set of Top Flite. If I like golf and get halfway decent I’ll get some Callaway 9000 titanium AI enabled with the GPS guided putter with a built in wifi hotspot. Or something like that.
