Popular vote should determine who the president will be.
To believe otherwise flies in the face of the "one man one vote" concept."

I get it.
You do not believe in one man equals one vote because it dilutes the power of your vote (in favor of those whose opinions differ from yours).

Agreed.

One man one vote is a terrible idea in our country. Were it in place, a candidate would only have to promise to address the needs of a few large cities to win the presidency, while completely ignoring vast swaths of the country and the needs of the people who live there.

We're kinda there now...go back and look at the Electoral maps the last 25 years. It's predominately red with blue in the expected spots.

I am sick to admit this…but apparently I’m not a one person / one vote kinda guy. Makes me less Democratic but more Republican and I’m not referring to our political parties but rather to the political philosophies. I don’t believe in supporting the tyranny of the majority no more than I believe in the tyranny of the minority. I could easily frame this as an agrarian vs industrial struggle. I don’t think it serves our country to allow one to ride roughshod over the other. This is what we hear in the political bickering and the claims on the little guy, the common man, union workers, small businesses etc, as the gasbags on either side try to convince the citizens that no one will be left behind or ignored. On another angle, this is why I think we should enforce the War Powers Act or otherwise limit the Executive’s ability to unilaterally wage war or to spend money. The Electoral College contains a dose of checks and balances that forces office seekers to compromise. That’s just my opinion.

Concur.

Out of the 3 branches of government the Executive Branch keeps on expanding the scope of their powers. It's insidious and not at all what was envisioned when created. I really believe the Founding Fathers were learned men that understood the quest of knowledge would make society wiser. I don't think the thought of having to prove a negative, what is a woman, abortion and assisted suicide were things that needed to be buttoned down beyond reproach. Then again I can remember when the movie "Idiocracy" was a comedy movie. Now, it's a documentary on America.

I agree MACS, that was totally cray cray. I was almost shocked that a lawyer would stoop so low as to support a dicktarship of the majority in electing a President, an office so limited in scope and power under the Constitution but in reality an office now more resembling a king shamelessly ruling with a phone and a pen and claiming duhmacracy issued him a mandate to shower his devotees with stolen loot and perks and crush all rivals under foot. I mean WOW! 😠

^ Which goes to show how fucked up the electoral process has become. It’s nearly impossible for a third party candidate to have a chance. So we continue to be caught between an ass and Dumbo.
