Good morning, everyone. Last day of work here before I get to go home and well, work. Made the mistake of doing mulch early this year. Large maple tree dropped about 1.38 million seeds a few weeks back and now the mulch beds are a field of green as the seeds mostly took hold. So, it's time to pull all the new mulch and replace with new mulch. And I have an eviction notice to the rabbit squatters under my shed. These ef'ers have systematically taken down my grape vines and fig trees and are working on all types of flowers as well. Time for them to go

Round-up in mulch bed on leaves of sprouting seeds should not affect tree roots. YMMV. Read the instructions.

There is also Preen, which is a pre-emergent weed killer that does not harm any nearby plants like tees, shrubs and flowers. It will prevent new sprouts.

Preen was added when I did the mulch initially. As far as round-up, it's not touching them. I've tried a spectracide product too.

Sitting at a seminar on trial skills today and (tomorrow). I got a last minute call inviting me to be in a "round-table" break-out presentation, in front of probably likke 75-100 other lawyers from around the country. Because someone canceled last minute.

The subject is how to pick a jury (voire dire)with four other lawyers discussing how to pick a jury. Other topics I'm just attending the seminar for are opening statements, settlement negotiations, exposing holes in the defense and closing arguments.

I am going to get all of my annual CLE's done today and tomorrow! Free $2k seminar!!!

Pays to live in the ideal U.S. convention town (Orlando).

The thing with roundup is that you need to apply it twice, about two weeks apart to make sure you get the leaves of the sprouts when they are in "uptake" mode since it's a foliar application. Often Roundup works the first time because you happen to hit the leaves during uptake the first time and then assume it always works the first time.

I’m preparing to clear out an area of invasives with a propane torch.
Think I’m gonna use a drip torch on the rest of the acreage in the future… 🤔

I did not do well today, at all. Only caught 1 fish big enough to keep.

However - since I am a regular now, and I always help fill other people's bags when I am doing well, I still went home with my limit of 5 Vermilion Snapper. The fellas hooked me up this time.

Nobody really did all that well today. A lot of people got 1 or 2 and didn't want to bother with it. That's how I got 5. 🇨🇮

Couple guys I work with have been landing some good fresh water trout in the past couple of weeks. Apparently, the state has a plethora of trout this year to stock the streams, lakes and ponds.

From what I understand they are catching some nice brown trout , lake trout in the lakes and ponds and some brookies in the streams Mostly females so that supports the idea that the that the fish farms have plenty of females and they are looking to let them go into the wild.

Day 3 of feeling like crap but it's improving finally. I don't deal with being sick very well.

Going to bed at 2030...
