Cheno... if you can keep your kid off drugs... it will be better for him in the long run. That's a fact. Don't even doubt it for one second.

Sorry, Charlie.

That decision should be based on a neuropsychologists', pediatrician's or psychiatrist's recommendation. And then, it is a family decision.

Just because you think you are better off for not having required medication, does not mean that you truly are or that everyone else is like you. And, what in fact, do you even know about ADD meds? Relatively NOTHING, I'll bet.

Your advice happens to be dead wrong here. Taking ADD meds as a kid when necessary improves quality of life dramatically and can even allow the brain to "outgrow" ADD in certain patients. It is a real disability that can have a major effect on people's lives and requires more than just" "I don't like taking medicine."

I hear you, Bucko... I said I went 54 years. I now take a statin and baby aspirin. Plavix for another 6 months.

I don't want to take any of it. 2 Cardiologists tell me I need to take the statin and the aspirin for the rest of my life or risk another clogged artery. I 90% believe they're both full of sheit... and if I stay the hell away from sugar and carbs I'll be fine.

There's that 10%, though... telling me "Good luck staying away from sugar and carbs". So I begrudgingly take it.

Yes. I guess I take the meds knowing I will indulge once in a while.

I wasn't big on Dr visits either. I'm still not, but my wife, an RN, mad me go about 20 years ago to a cardiologist for a good once over. I fought tooth and nail before finally caving in. happy wife, happy life and all. I have a pretty extensive family history of heart issues. I wasn't overly unhealthy at the time but well documented hypertension and a resting heart rate of about 100 BPM got me a good dose of meds. Now many moons later I feel it was a good decision. All levels where they should be and most considered good to great territory. I've since developed Type 2 and rolling with those meds too, so I added a Endocrinologist as well. Probably went through five Dr's each till I found someone I trust. I truly believe I'd be dead by now

Speaking of death, we have a record breaking heat dome over the desert for the next week or so.
98.2% chance something will happen. 1.8% statistical error.

I again get to be a part of groundbreaking history. Yay... 😟
