8track (and everyone) I know this is slightly off topic but if Gabbard is elected as Trump’s VP, what’s your opinion of her future in politics? So much will happen in those four years it’s impossible to make a guess but if you’re willing to take a stab, I’m interested in hearing what you have to say.

Her future? Can't put my finger on where she is now, politically.
-Dem from Hawaii.
-She took fire in 2017 for meeting with Syrian tough guy Bashar al-Assad. Said she it was important to engage him to better understand his mindset. I don't recall if it was from Republican's or fellow Dems.
-She fought the LGBT+ stuff which pizzed off Dems, then softened her stance later.
-One of, maybe the first Hindu in congress and (aLLegedy) had ties with a right wing, Indian Nationalist paramilitary group.
-The DNC screwed her out of a place on the debate stage by changing the criteria. Don't recalll the detail.
-Hillary Clinton hates her- (in itself making her worthy of being president) accusing Gabbard of beign a Russian Asset (see the Assad stuff).

In the movie Idiocracy, one of the brainless drones freaks out ..UNSCANABLE, UNSCANABLE! That is what she is. Doesn't fit a category.

If there was such a thing as a Moderate-Turned Conservative-Now allbut Expelled Democrat, she'd make a major mess for Biden and the Dems.

I'd pay cash to what her tie Kamala up in knots in a debate. Gabbard has more brains in a pinky toenail than Harris and her handlers have.

If Trump is secure enough to have that strong of a female VP, it would be an astonishing, brilliant move.

Plus, Trump should avoid a white guy. Check a couple of boxes with her. I think Tulsi gets POC points for the Hindu thing. She's certainly a woman.

I think his pick will come down to electoral college votes in specific states. Tulsi Gabbard if he needs college educated Women, Tim Scott if he needs Black voters, or Marco Rubio if he needs Hispanic voters.

Can't have Rubio.

They both hail from the same state. Neither can move now.

Good stuff. Not to mention she’s a military officer who has deployed. Even if she was elected VP, which I think we all see as highly unlikely, her chances at being elected POTUS are practically zilch. I think her career in politics is probably over and she remains relevant in the next few years at best. Not that I’m poo-pooing her. Not at all. It’s just that she has no power or influence and soon she will not even be a conversation piece. But I think she’s head and shoulders above just about any person in Congress now.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Tulsi Gabbard... if only to see her crush Kamala once again in the VP debates. lol

I think she'd garner some women voters, maybe some D voters... and she has common sense. She understands the military. And she's against the woke nonsense.

Going to be interesting for sure. Whoever it is needs to yield a net increase in potential voters. I’m thinking Tulsi Gabbard, Tim Scott, Glenn Youngkin or even Nikki Haley are the obvious choices for that.

in my opinion Youngkin is probably the best choice. He can all but guarantee winning Virginia’s 13 game electoral votes which Biden won in 2020. Additionally I think Youngkin gives Trump a decent boost to help win Arizona and Pennsylvania as well because of demographics. If that happens Trump wins. Game over.

Tim Scott may help swing some black vote but I think the only state with a high enough concentration of black voters who Scott could swing is Georgia. I don’t see him being able to swing Michigan, Illinois or New York. The rest of the blue states don’t have a high enough percentage of black voters that could be swung for a victory.

Gabbard and Haley don’t seem like logical choices. I really don’t see either of them contributing to the electoral college. Haley pretty much bombed in the primaries. I think Gabbard fails to convert any democrats. Maybe a few fence sitters is about all.

I don’t think Rubio would really help with the Hispanic vote and I’m pretty sure Trump wins Florida without him unless he says something stupid which is always a possibility.

I don’t really think Ben Carson brings in additional voters either. He’s never polled well outside traditional Republican voting blocks who will vote for Trump without him.

DeSantis was a never-Trumper choice so other than helping in Florida I don’t see him as a meaningful net positive.

Youngkin won by not seeking Trump's endorsement. It's more like Trump chasing him down. I believe He'll steer clear and like DeSantis is young enough to do it and still run. DeSantis sullied his name by listening to others that I believe got to him because he did say he wasn't going to run while he just won a 2nd term.

Michigan and Illinois will follow the unions.

I agree with Gabbard and Haley not being logical choices and stated why. She's not going to win over the diehard DNC faithful. They already hate her so much that she had to go with the (I) to stay viable for HI. Even that didn't save her. I like the pick because it defies the GOP faithful and would show Trump in a Reaganesque manner...reaching across the aisle to accomplish things for the nation. Haley has no chance of even being in a 2nd Trump administration. She went scorched earth with DNC cash on him.

Rubio and DeSantis cannot be Trump's VP pick. That pesky 12th Amendment. One would've had to move out of state and declare it months ago to have that. Time doesn't allow it. Especially with Rubio being a senator and DeSantis a governor, Trump does like him, but he did take a run at him. I don't know how that plays in the long run.

Ben Carson will most likely have another cabinet position in a 2nd Trump Administration. Admire the man, just too old. The GOP is stacked with winnable talent for now and the future. The DNC will be digging themselves out of TDS for decades to come.

Very interesting discussion here. It’s nice to read stuff that is backed up with thoughtful consideration. I wonder if Trump can look past his personal bias and pick a winner instead of a Trumper. Hopefully he will find a Trumper that is also a winner. He won with an old white Christian man in 2016. Can he do that again? I surely don’t know. Like you all have said, this is going to be interesting.
