Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement Saturday declaring that the east coast mystery drone activity has “gone too far” after several drones flew unauthorised and forced runways at Stewart International Airport to close for an hour.

“Last night, the runways at Stewart Airfield were shut down for approximately one hour due to drone activity in the airspace. This has gone too far,” Hochul urged.

Her statement continues, “In mid-November, I directed the New York State Intelligence Center to actively investigate drone sightings and coordinate with federal law enforcement to address this issue, and those efforts are ongoing.”

“But in order to allow state law enforcement to work on this issue, I am now calling on Congress to pass the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act,” Hochul further notes.

“This bill would reform legal authorities to counter-UAS and strengthen the FAA’s oversight of drones, and would extend counter-UAS activities to select state and local law enforcement agencies,” the Governor adds.

I heard an opinion on the drones, they are sniffing radioactivity from a nuclear warhead that went missing in Ukraine years ago and is headed to the US. An alternative option was a search for stolen radio active material that could be assembled with conventional explosives to create a very dirty bomb.

The architects of the plot might be islamic terrorists aided by Russia. OTOH, it could be domestic in source and designed to push us into a war with Russia.

Ferguson then segued into the purported drone sightings in New Jersey, noting, "These drones are not nefarious in intent ... but if they're drones - the only reason they would be flying - and flying that low at night - is because they're trying to smell something on the ground."

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas downplayed the recent wave of drone sightings in the tri-state area and emphatically argued the feds can’t just “shoot” them down amid calls by some lawmakers to do just that.

Mayorkas, appearing on CNN Friday night, insisted many people are simply seeing drones that can be purchased at “convenience stores” and most instances are “cases of mistaken identity.”

The Homeland honcho told CNN host Wolf Blizter that his agency has seen no evidence of anomalous activity.

The whole thing has to be fake news. Supposedly those drones are electric - and we all know the electrical grid could never support that.

I watched a news report the other day and they interviewed a citizen who sent his own drone up to try to look at them The suspect drone started flying toward restricted airspace so the citizen followed with his drone. He said that as the two drones got close to the restricted airspace, his drone shut down with weird battery notices (he said it was fully charged, had not been flying for long, should have had lots of juice left) and crached but the other drone continued into the restricted airspace with no issues.
