Good Sunday Morning to All! It's overcast and calm this morning, last night we had an azz kicking thunderstorm come through. Lucky it came in and moved out quickly, but took out the power until early this morning.

The rain here has passed. Still overcast though with a temp in the low 70's. Neighbor is mowing the lawn which speaks to me that I should do the same. Triple decker with a small yard so shouldn't take long.

Bought a battery powered lawn mower and got it delivered yesterday. Tried it out of the box and it worked nicely but the charge died about 20 mins in (battery was only 1/2 charged). That was fine since the skies opened up with a cloud burst about then so it was time to find shelter.

According to the reviews and the owner's manual, a full charge lasts about an hour and it takes about 2 hrs for a charge.

Charged it overnight so today will be it's real maiden voyage. It mulches the clipping or you can use the grass catcher. For this maiden voyage I'll prolly use the bag and toss the clippings in the compost bin. Need some more green in there anyway so the compost can do it's business.

Does it qualify as green technology if I use an electric lawn mower to mow the grass? Can I claim carbon credits?

If I gotta fart, I'll fart on the compost and mix it in. That should count as an even trade.

Then again... prolly not a good idea.
Police report: White male arrested for dropping his drawers and farting in a compost bin. Court date 6/9/25.

How big of a roast do you use in your recipe? I don't want to mess the blend up if we decide to make it.

Wife and I went around the yard and pruned/cut back all of the trees that surround our yard.

Just the branches we could reach. Wife pulled the branches down, I lopped them with a pair of Fiskers.

Then we removed all the small circular fences around our five fruit trees. I weedeated around them, and my wife put down that black plastic stuff. Then we closed them back in...

We got apples and peaches growing...

Chillin now. Looks like it's about to rain, for the second time today.

Depends on how many you are feeding. Here's a basic recipe. It's easy peasy.

Ok thanks, Bucky

We liked that Cowboy Stew recipe that you posted a while back. Really filling w/ a slice of cornbread on the side.

Gonna have to try this one weekend.

The first house I bought we had a walk out basement that exited under the deck on the first floor. The deck was about 8 feet off the ground. I put up some lattice around the area and used the under deck area it as kinda like a shied (stored the snow blower, lawn mower, trash and recycle bins and stuff under there).

Planted some grapes around the lattice so the vines would climb up for a natural "wall." After a year of so of training them to grow up the lattice, they worked out well for the main purpose but the fruit (grapes) were were pretty sour. Maybe I didn't buy the right breed or maybe north central MA is not a good place to grow grapes (shrug). Maybe I should have done some sort of ivy like they use at Wrigley Field

One other thing with the grapes is the leaves attracted a lot of Japanese beetles. I inoculated my lawn with milky spore to kill the grubs that eventually grow up to be the beetles. That helped knock down the beetle population but the neighbors didn't something similar so I still had issues with the leaf eaters every year.

Nothing disastrous but kind of annoying.

Good Monday Morning to All! It's a clear 84° on the way to 86° today. Lab draw, breakfast and coffee done. Going to my son's place to catch the FedEx guy, they don't have many good drivers anymore.
