Like But Didn't?

I really like Hoyo de Monterrey Rothschild Maduro Maduro, so I assumed I would like the new HdM Rothschild Dark Sumatra.

Nope. Not for me.

What has disappointed you like that?

I enjoy the regular punch line, mostly the maduros, but I was not at all pleased when I tried the grand cru. Yuck!!! IMO. I have not yet tried a grand cru maduro but I was not very impressed with the naturals.

The first Padron maduro I tried was a #4000, and it was a good smoke. Haven't felt the same about the others like #2000 and #3000. They all burned well. The flavor difference seemed to be the wrapper.

Buttermilk ... I like both butter and milk and had therefore assumed I'd like buttermilk ... the only thing I was ever more wrong about was thinking that since I liked pickles, I'd like cucumbers ..... those, however, are the most vile food on earth IMHO.

The new CAO Criollo. I was expecting this powerhouse cigar, and the taste was substandard to their other lines. It didn't measure up. Who likes those itty-bitty sizes? If you're going to smoke a cigar, smoke a cigar. If you're going to smoke a cigarette, smoke a cigarette. Those tins of smokes are all right, because if you're short on time, but want a cigar taste you can get it, but the prices CAO wants for the Criollo doesn't justify cigar's size.

Opus X. A friend gave me one to try and I thought it was ok but not nearly as good as it costs. The HdM dark sumatra is my #2, #1 is MC negra cubana. That'll probably change tomorrow though...

Fred, did you mean the MNC is your #1 disappointment or your #1 favorite? I have some MNC double coronas and I like them, but the only MNC corona gorda (or cuban corona) I tried had a really tight draw and was no fun at all.

Just tried a Perdomo reserve Rosado. Great description on C-BID, nice construction, pretty to look at. Couldn't taste a thing. (Fortunatly for me I was able to sleep through most of it.)

Try lighting it next time.
I thought the rosado had it all over the maduro in terms of balance.
Does anybody actually buy buttermilk anymore?

CAO gold corona. It was ok but I expected more oomph.

CAO Extreme. Lotsa guys love them but to my taste it was extrememly nasty.

FWIW, I like buttermilk, milk, butter, houses and butterflies. You would think from that, that I would also like houseflies. This is not the case. I HATE flies!

Padrons. Just plain don't care for 'em.
