Why is there such a bad wrap for flavored cigars, I don't mean Black and Milds or Swishers? My sister brought a Jamaican Platinum rum cigar back from, where else, Jamaica. They are great. I haven't seen them much of anywhere but they have a great taste. Better than any other flavored I've come across. They come in Rum and Vanilla. If you get a chance I would say try these.

-For the record. These are not my favorite cigars but they are good. People who enjoy cigars are crazy not to try as many cigars as possible. You might like them. This goes to E-Chick especially when she said something to the effect of; If I want congnac I'll drink some if I want a cigar I want something that tastes like tobacco.

Personally, flavored cigars are for beginners ... or people who must smoke a cigar, but can't stand the flavor of the 'real' ones.

How can someone say to each his own and then say they are only for beginners. Kind of an oxymoron. I think that a flavored cigar can be a change of pace. That is why I posted. I regularly smoke Macanudo's, Don Tomas, CAO's, La Fontana's and others. I still leave myself open to other cigars. I don't consider anything to be "Real" cigars, especially when people describe the "Flavor" of a cigar by contrasting it with common tastes like nuts or say that it smells a certain way. It's kind of interesting that I've heard rave reviews of what I recall to be punch cigars that were stored in casks that were previously cognac flasks. They obviously took on some flavor from there. Is that not then a flavored cigar? Also when someone is smoking a maduro isn't that a flavored cigar as it is specifically made to taste a certain way. At what point does a cigar become "Flavored" or is it only when someone adds a foreign flavor. Because where tobacco is grown, as in proximaty to certain plants, cause it to pick up certain flavors. This is much the same as wine that will often pick up lavender flavors from wild lavender. To an end. I was saying in my original post...to each his own, and cigar lovers shouldn't descriminate whether a person like's vanilla or maduro we should all just light up together.

You make a good point Dark. Nothing gets such a bad rap as cigars with no flavor so why knock flavored cigars. Sometimes I wonder if there's not more flavors added to cigars than we think. I hear some people like Acids which I think are flavored cigars but what about something like the Indian Tabac Legend Gorilla? It's not advertised as a flavored cigar but they smell like apples. It's pleasant but I wonder does that apple aroma come from the tobacco or is it purposefully added somehow?

As for a "bad rap" ... well, I guess I'm as guilty as anyone for "rappin" flavored cigars, but not the person who chooses to smoke one ... I should have developed a cut n' paste template for what I'm about to say, but the bottom line fact is, we each have different taste ... if you like flavored cigars, fine with me ... I don't care and won't bad-mouth you for your taste ... I WILL ask that you stand down-wind from me while you smoke it, though ... their odor really does make me feel ill ... and maybe my palate isn't all that well refined, but other than in a chocolate flavored cigar (ugh!!!), I've never tasted a hint of chocolate in a cigar ... no fruity taste either, unless I mistakenly pick up one of my wife's beverages while smoking ... I can't remember now who said it first here, (I love the line and would give credit where due if I could remember who to give it to) but my kinda cigars all taste like tobacco ...

Oh, and if you like flavored cigars enough to bid ONLY on those, you and I could be like Jack and Mrs Sprat ... that's cool .... you can have all the flavoreds you want and will never see a competing bid from me ... I'll take the big, bold tobacco flavored cigar and between the two of us, we'll clean up the platter ...

When I first got started smoking cigars, way back, this past Summer, the lady at the cigar shop started me with a couple of vanilla and a couple of peach flavored cigars. To be honest, I really liked them. Then I started to move up a bit and try some "regular" cigars. After weening myself off of the flavored ones, I stepped up to more stronger cigars. Now, after a few short months, I couldn't see myself going back to the flavored cigars. They don't taste or smell right, to me.

What it all boils down to is "smoke what you like". Why should you gives a good goddamn what anyone else thinks about your choices? I smoke the cigars I do because I enjoy them. I'm not interested in comparing labels.

I'm a simple guy.

No "flavorings" in my coffee, beer or tobacco.

They are the flavor I enjoy.

I do like Acids. And use to smoke other flavored cigars but don't now just because my tastes have changed.

I think one reason flavored cigars usually get a bad wrap is because they are not made with the high standards that a lot of other cigars are made with. But if you like them go for it.

In college I smoked 25-cents a pack Mexican cigarettes rolled in sugar cane papers. They were sweet, strong and cheap. Sure cut down on the number of cigarettes I smoked. After the kids were born I went through a whole bouquet of pipe tobaccos, which cover a far wider spectrum of tastes than flavored cigars. Hard to cover up that "kid" smell.

I started smoking "Royal Hawaiians". Dont smoke flavoreds any more, but I dont knock anyone for what they smoke. Now like mentioned earlier, I may not want to be downwind of some of those smokes. I do think cigar smokers are a positive thing, no matter what is smoked. As long as they are a smoker, at least its one less person to infringe on other smokers rights.

In my humble opinion, flavored cigars are AWEFUL!! I've never tried one I enjoyed. Of course, I like my scotch, brandy, and cognac without additives and this may be the reason I prefer cigars this way. I just can't get past the sweet taste (and wow, they are really sweet) ---- much like mixed alcoholic beverages, it appears to be an effort to disguise the true taste of the primary component (the tobacco). For my money, I'll stick with the real deal, and if you prefer these, then enjoy. After all, it's all about personal preference.

Generally I won't smoke at my favorite bar if it's too crowded. It's not worth the hassle from other people complaining. I will smoke an Acid Kuba Kuba. I get compliments from 9 outta 10 people.

I had a taste of tobacco flavored beer once. Someone had put a butt out in it, Yuch!

I'm a man with big enough balls to admit to smoking and enjoying some flavored cigars. I don't care how you define it, flavored is flavored and you can f*ck off if you have a problem with my tastes 🙂

Not true that it's just for beginners. My palate is more geared toward the full-bodied smokes than the lighter-bodied ones, but flavored cigars are a nice change of pace for me. Variety is the spice of life, (does that mean that variety is flavored!?) so live a little.

BTW I can smoke any of you ninny-pinny-sissy purists under the friggin' table so bring it on!
