So..now I'm in the market for a new cutter. Are any of the pricey models significantly better than the double bladed guillotine like the one linked to above? The Zino Davidoff, or the Xikar series?

Anyone...help?!

Thanks

Xikars are great. Wonderful customer service. If the cutter gets dull you can send it to them and they'll sharpen it. The best cutter I've ever used though is the Swiss Army Knife Cutter.

The Xikar's are really good. Not cheap though..

if you register the warranty for the Xicar online, they send you a free leather pouch for it.

I purchased a Xikar over a year ago and it's still in perfect condition. I cut at least two cigars a day with it. I do put a drop of oil in it once every four months. If you buy one, go the the Xikar website and fill in the warranty information. They will send you a free leather case.

Love My Xikar,

Is the only difference between the Xi and the Xi2 the plastic versus metal handle? Are the blades the same?

I own the Xikar cutter and punch. You can't go wrong. If you're going to spend a lot of money on a premium cigar why would you use a cheap cutter on it?

I never received my free leather case, even though I registered.

A new cutter I recently won has been working really well, it's called perfect cut, and it does deliver a great cut. We'll see how long it keeps producing "perfect cuts"....

Thanks for the info Danny. I just registered mine so we will see if I get the case.

I don't have a lot of experience with cutters. I had just been using the cheapos. I traded on a different board and got a Xikar X1 I believe. I love it.

Yeah, Rick - teeth are great and can be used. As a matter of fact, I believe that I have done that a time or two myself.

I have tried many different shapes, sizes, and styles, however, the best cutter IMHO is the Xikar - by far!

I have the Prometheus cutter I won here at Cbid, and it's cutting as good now as when new.

Xikarl is a good cutter with an occasional bad cut. The Xikar2 with the plastic body are IMO,a cheap imitation of the metal body Xikar.
My preferance is the Zino single guillotine metal body cutter. I've never had a bad cut and it's very compact. X

I used to use a cheapie double bladed cutter but have since been swayed to the dark side. I now use a cheapie
punch except on pyramids and torps.

I have a cheapie guillotine, punch and lighter all purchased here in every desk, glove box, and shaving kit. Even in my sons baseball bat bag just in case.

SAK for me. No problems with the larger ring guage stuff out there.

Like Huskey, I have cutters stored everywhere, glove box of cars, golf bags, in garage, on patio, but when I really want to make a great cut, its XiKar for me!!

Agree with everyone above, and though I've tried my teeth, punchers, V cutters, scissors, knives and a paper clip, I love my Xikar.
For a nice cut especially for a Primo...it has to be my Xikar...great warranty too( see their website).
In fact, thanks for reminding me, I'm in the market for another one...for a spare.
