I have been laid up with a pinched nerve in my lower back. I had not had a cigar in a few days and I was twitching. I will usually go to my club and smoke but I haven't been able to do that with by back. So yesterday I limped into my garage with a CAO Lancero. I didn't have time to smoke the whole cigar so I cut it in half and only smoked half. The mini lancero tasted great and I smoked it to the nub. No it didn't unwrap. My question is did I break any unwritten rules? Does anyone else cut cigars and smoke half? If I had a smaller cigar I would have smoked it but my humidor is full of large ring gauge cigars. Any thoughts on a quick cigar..... Thanks for your input..

I'm sorry, but that sort of behaviour cannot be tolerated, even under your obviously painful circumstances. You are banned from the C-Bd fori for life. We all have to abide by the rules here.

But, will never cut 'top-shelf' cigar in half, just the lower end yard sticks ... as it can affect the flavor profle it was intended to produce.

You might want to try one of those cigar savor tubes. That might be a better solution for you.

I cut a Partagas 150 A in half one time and made two robustos. They were both very nice.

I just bought one of those cigar savor tubes and I will tell you how it works out, I don't have time to smoke an entire cigar sometimes, which i think is a crime, but I wanted to try one of thesse and got it for a great price. I will report on it as soon as I get it.

I've done this with several of the longer Dos Rios, which have without exception had an impossible draw. I found that this offered me two very pleasant smokes, both with a good draw. However, I'd choose my exceptions for this unorthodox practice carefully, and would never do it on a really great smoke. After all, if Churchhills were meant to be short, they would've made them robustos.

Don't be afraid to cut one! It feels good sometimes!!

We can all have fun, but we must take into consideration that many folks do come to this site (as well as many other sites on the net) to get solid information. Did I read this correctly? I mean, did you say you cut a CAO in half? I just have to clarify because I can't believe my friggin eyes! What the F were you thinking? I don't care how long your sorry butt is laid up, If you need a smoke that bad, light up a (full size) Bad Frog or something and then you don't have to feel guilty by putting it out after a minute or so. That's to say if you don't extinguish it purely from the nasty taste. But, for the love of Christ, NEVER cut a CAO in half or anything else for that matter again. If I ever hear that you did such a sacreligious act such as that again, I'm coming for you!

It was only in jest, I would never cut cigar in half for reasons givin in this post and good advice in other post. Also, may be reason they make different size cigars, I would smoke a churchill outside on a 15 minute break.

Again, no harm meant, I realize the post was sincere, but youv'e got to admit, there was a small bit of humor embedded in the post.

Right, balance, for instance, I posted twice, First saying that I have cut large cigars (a Partagas A) YES! That was not a joke! and secondly implying a flatulant event. But PLEASE! I've cut many a cigar in half when I had a big cigar and didn't want a long smoke. Especially if it's an expensive cigar, you get two smokes for the price of one. I don't believe it messes up the flavor, sometimes they smoke better.

I usually tie the end that wants to unravel with a bit of dental floss -- before I make the cut. Works great.

It seems to me that some people here,when their humor is injected into the mix is acceptable but at other times,perhaps when they're not in a humorous mood,it is frowned upon. A cigar board is designed to accomodate both. Too much of one or the other can be distracting. However I've yet to see it here,JMO. X
