Personally, I always try to be stoic and austere… Reserved, measured and mature… (I was measured once, but that's another talk show...)

Robby --- In your yearbook, did you have 'Class Clown' next to your picture? 😉

Do you see what I mean? I took your Partagas 150 statement as a joke, because with you, it's like the 'boy who cried wolf' ... A lot of people here never know if you are serious or not, and it affects your credibility. With you ... no offense, I honestly don't know what to beleive sometimes.

CulleyJC52, and everyone else (even Robby) ... my statement was NOT directed at any one specific. I've been saying this here for the last three years ... and I still stand by my convictions. This site has always had a certain class about it, and has always been a solid source for good cigar information ... and it has always been a fun place to participate in. But, I'd surely hate to see it become a site where folks just drop by to, "see how funny some of the folks are ..."

Humor is always good ... and a little can go a long way. What bugs me, is when the banter ruins a good thread, and there are threads that a little more restraint is appropriate.

Some threads are made for humor, we've seen lot's of them ... and they can be pretty hilarious. The key is when to know the difference, and when too much is just too much ...

I'm spouting nothing new, like I said ... the old timers here have heard this rant many times before, and can now proceed to get on me about my redundancy ... LOL!

As a last note, I wonder what John Wayne Bobbit would say about cuttting his cigar in two parts.

Sorry couldn't resist Slim, please don't beat me.

But, also out of due respect. Some of these post are so far reaching. Here the man that cut a cigar in two parts, cause he didn't have time to smoke the whole thing. In his own words, said everything was fine, the cigar didn't even unravel, and it tasted great. But, then felt the need do a post, to see if he violated some unknown cigar law??????????? Oh please.

I've cut a cigar in two a few times, when it was burning so unevenly, to start smoking it all over again. But, didn't feel the need to rush to my computer to post my unconventional act, to make sure I didn't commit a unknown cigar smokers sin.

I am thankful, newbies, including myself have learned a lot from you veterans. Even when the question may be something like, wrapper on/wrapper off, which has been beaten to hell. But, you vets are patient and go over the opinions again, as though the question was never asked before, which I think is great. But, if you read this post , most will agree this was silly to begin with, which brought on the innocent jest.

WOW.. I didn’t know I would cause such a controversy. First off yes there was some humor in my post.
My question is, "did I break any unwritten rules?” I wasn’t asking for permission to smoke half a cigar. I was curious if anyone else did this on a regular basis. As far as cutting CAOs I ended up smoking two fine Lancero halves. “Any thought on a quick cigar.” I was looking for input on a smaller brand cigar. I am new to these boards and I have learned an awful lot browsing and remaining in the background. I think we have to continue to use humor as well as sharing information. Let’s all try to get along and have fun…

Smoke em if yer gut em. If you don’t only smoke half.

John

Stickbow --- of course we must, "continue to use humor as well as sharing information" ... it's the 'let's make a funny comment' at everything that someone posts that gets to me ...

... but that's just me. Take it with a grian of salt!

I've been to many gatherings where the adults are having conversation, and there is aways the one kid that keeps popping-off in order to get attention ... it's cool, but can get annoying.

Some folks just feel the need to over do it ... I guess.

There is a widely perceived notion that a cigar blend changes as it travels from foot to cap and that if you cut a cigar in half, you disrupt the blender's intent.

If you get the opportunity to discuss this notion with folks who have been on the rolling floor, they just laugh. Each roller is given a pile of tobacco from which to form the "bunch" before it goes into a mold. (Yes, hand rolleds go into molds.) They work fast, if they want to keep their jobs, and don't ponder, cigar to cigar, "let's see, did I position the ligero properly in this one..."

No two cigars, unless they are machine made of homogenized fill, will ever smoke and taste exactly alike.

If you cut a long cigar in half, the two halves may smoke identically or may be slightly different. There can be a problem of the wrapper unraveling where it has been cut at the middle of the cigar.

Slim, are you saying you want someone to give you good thread?

Robby --- don't get me wrong.

Your 'sideways' humor is very clever. I just find it a bit expected and repetitious at times ... and it loses some of it's spontaneity. It bothers me a little that I find myself skipping over your posts, because I suspect that they are just 'one-liners' designed to get a laugh. It bugs me, because I know you are intelligent and have a lot to offer ...

Heck ... eveyrone who has been here awhile, knows that I had the same issues with E-Chick ... and that went on for years. We had some pretty intense battles over it also ... and after several private emails, we finally resolved our differences.

... notice how she has gotten a lot better? She still throws out the occasional innuendo and one-liners ... but she has refined her style, and they are now poignant ... and are fun to read!

Right now ... your posts are very much the 'male counterpart' of the the early E-Chick. And heck ... I gave her so much crap over the years, I only felt that in fair play, I give you a little ... 😉 I'm just glad that I've mellowed out a bit over the years ... or maybe I should say that E-Chick wore me out!

And after all ... I wouldn't want her to think that I was sexist! That could start a whole new round with her ... LOL!

I'll try, but did you read my post on the scorpion and the frog on the misc board? The scorpion stung the frog while the frog was carrying him across the river, the frog says why did you do that? Now we'll both drown? And the scorpion says, "I can't help it, it's just my nature".

I actually showed up late for sexual harassment training at work and said to the teacher, “I apologize for being late, but I didn’t want to come prematurely”. I really can’t help myself. But, I’ll try... Hey! Did you hear the one about the nun and the Rabi? DOH!!

Stickbow,

Thanks for admitting there was humor injected in your post. This have been fun with nobody getting a rise of their neck hairs, oh sorry Slim I forgot, lol,.

This post isn't finnished yet. I still think questions are yet to be answered. Like nobody replied to my what would John Wayne Bobbit do question, maybe we'll never know.

Anyway, enjoyed your post and look forward to your next one.
