My favorite size is the Robusto (5X50). I prefer a cigar from 48 to 54 ring gauge and between 4.5 to 6 inches. I'll smoke a Churchill from time to time, but that's too much of a commitment for me. I would rather smoke two different Robustos in the same amount of time. Variety is the spice of life.

Fortunately for you guys the original long boring post I wrote was lost when C-bid went down this afternoon. So I'll make it short and sweet. The robusto IMHO is the ideal size. Large enough ring for the roller to make a complex blend, not too long so as to get bitter or rank towards the end and easy to draw. Of course these are generalizations but certainly everyone should agree that robusto's are not in the problem child catagory with churchills, and coronas. Churchills are too much of a time commitment and the last half of the cigar never tastes good to me. Coronas tend to be a little flat in flavor. There are exceptions to this rule, some blends work best in small cigars. It's really a science. Burn rate, heat, wrapper, filler. Methinks me keeps me robustos.

Gulfspray hit the nail on the head. I couldn't have said it better. Coronas are usually lacking in flavor. Many Churchills tend to get harsh further down. The Robusto is the happy medium. The "perfect" size.

Mood and atmosphere tend to lead me to smoke different size cigars. But for just all around taste have to go with the robusto for all the reasons listed above.

For me, I prefer the Toro. It's my favorite of the day, to sit back for an hour and just enjoy the tobacco and a good book. It's a size that I feel like I've done something and it leaves me totally satisfied. My robustos are for a good afternoon smoke. It's the warm-up for later....Brent

Robusto's definately! I do however like a churchill when I am mowing the grass. It takes the same time to smoke one as it does to mow.

Hey, Rookie ... never touch a Churchill? I'll place a bet on that one ... LOL ... (i.e. Napa Reserve Churchill) ... But I'll have to agree with Rookie. Corona, Robusto and occasionally a Gran Corona (almost a Churchill, but not quite). Time is the reason ... and I hate to relight a cigar ... YUCK!

Robustos and Toros! packed with plenty of flavor and hefty enough to know that you have a real cigar in your hands!

Robusto is the way to go, except when you have lots of time to reward yourself with a Churchill. I agree about the harshness of the Churchill near the end. Also agree with the Petit Corona as a short smoke, just right for a half hour.

... I forgot I also really enjoy the 'Short Belicoso' size. That's one of my new favorites ... you know, Hoyo XXO, Mayorga Gordito, Estavan Short Cruz ... Yum ... nice, short, half hour smokes ...
