What's worse, is putting a bid on something and then regretting it before you win, and watching and hoping to be outbid, and then it doesn't happen, gulp. ANOTHER BOX OF CIGARS DEAR!?

It's an auction...

Sometimes you 'win' an auction sometimes you don't.

Bidding time and amount are a personal choice.

How about a bid like this one:

Me thinks JB from Chicago did not see the word "5 pack".

And he is winning on all three lots!

OUCH!!

That may be the overbid to beat all overbids.

$85 for a box of 25 at CI. He'll get 15 sticks for 50% more.

Of course, perhaps he'll save on the shipping...

That's an auto-bid with a $1 increment. At least one other moron had to bid $39.

I'm just dragging this horse to the top of the forum again. See if a few more people want to beat on it.

Hahahahaha.

No comment on bidding strategy. Everyone else covered it well. UNFORTUNATELY!

If you hang out here long enough you know what the going CBid rate is for a particular cigar. Then all you have to do is wait for the UPS guy rather than waiting for auction close. If you get outbid, you know that someone new paid more that what is normal for that cigar.

By the tme you've been here for a couple of months, you will be up to hundreds of cigars in your humidor/coolerdor/tupperdor and will be in no rush to win an auction. That is CBid cigar stash maintenance mode.

"I wouldn't give him the steam of my sh$t."

I wonder is this thread will make it to 100.

(Just to keep this from being a threadjack...I never bid on more than 1 item per listing)

Here look at this for entertainment (my daughter showed this to me shortly before my adding further parental controls to her browser.
