Picked up a three sticks lately on an impulse from local shops that I have never heard of. Haven't smoked any yet but curious if anyone else has heard of these.

Malibu - robusto size
Reyes Grande - torpedo
Lusitania - torpedo (now that seems rather ironic doesn't it)

The Lusitania (non-Cuban) is a fairly new cigar that claims it features a full bodied taste and pleasing aroma.

The otheres I have never heard anything (and searches are futile) about them ... interesting!

The Lusitania is made by Carlos Torano and is a mixed filer cigar. From what I have heard,it is a decent cigar. X

Slight mis-information

Reyes Gold Reserve - Dominican stick. Was in a good looking box with a black velvet covering on the inside of the lid similar to the way Oliva "O"s are. Price $6.00

I didn't ask the store owner anything about it but will probably be back in next week and will ask.

I'll let you know how the cigar is after I smoke it this weekend...

Posted a pic of the Lusitania on the other forum. Pretty good smoke. Found out it is made by Perdomo. Nic puro with sungrown wrapper. About $2.00 each in box qty... not a bad price for the stick.

The DRG (Dominican Republic Gold) Reyes (Emillio Reyes)is their top of the line. Smoked it last night. Packed well with a fairly firm draw. Not a lot of smoke but enough. Even burn and mild flavor. Very smooth. Not sure it is worth the $6.00 price tag as there are a lot of less expensive sticks that are just as good. One site indicated that Smoke Mag rated them a 4.0 in the 2002 Winter issue but I haven't found my copy yet.

Haven't smoked the Malibu yet and have not found out much info on it other than it would appear to be a cigar boom cheapie in a line named Malibu Classicos. The only thing a Google search turned up was a printing company who evidently printed the labels for them and uses the label as an example on their website. Not holding out much hope for this one.

The Reyes DRG Churchill is going for $54.95 a box "elsewhere", CigarNewb (at) hawaii (dot) rr (dot) com for info. I bought a box a while back, pretty harsh at first, let them rest a couple of months and were a lot better then. Not the greatest smoke but not bad for a couple of bucks a piece, wouldnt buy for $6/ea.

Yes, the Lusitania is Perdomo made and reportedly a Nicaraguan puro. They can be found at less than $2.00 a stick. Albert Argenti of Perdomo says they are long filler.

(not senior, of Puros Indios and Cuba Aliados fame) has gone belly-up. Their Florida distribution office apparently is closed and a retailer located near their former headquarters is closing out the product lines.

I have no clue about the Malibu, but assume it was a boom line that's in cigar purgatory at present.
