Gonna be in Galveston July 6-13. On Saturday, July 12, there could be a gathering of my Texas brothers too smoke, drink, and eat crawfish to celebrate my belated birthday celebration, Texas style.

I just booked a last minute vacation to Cozumel that departs on Fri., so I won't be able to make the gathering. Have a great time and Happy belated b-day Mean.

jd1, have fun in Idaho, some beautiful country up there. I've only been to the Boise and Nampa area, actually Melba. I found out where the fish weren't this past Friday, I hope I can find them for Ed.

Went fishing with Mr. Mean and his brother yesterday. We caught a few fish and got chased off by lightening.

Hope to see some of ya'll down there today for a good time. BTW, the yahoo map shows a right turn on Matagorda, NOT, it's a left turn. You'll figure it out when you get to a dead end and run out of house numbers. LOL

Mr. Mean gifted me with an Anejo Shark? for the ride home. Tastey little treat. I hope he's rady for a birthday bombing today!

Barry showed up Friday morning for a little fishing at San Luis Pass. Hooked into some specs, Barry can't work a float so he got flounder. BIG lightning came in and chased us out of the chest high water and over to the Purple Cow for some cheeseburgers.
Saturday, we had BMW, Fastshotbud (Bud), Hotshot (Jeff), Mad Dawg (Doug), and Chris (Chris). Cigars were being passed around like they were too hot to hold on to. Barry gifted me one hell of a package that I am still just staring at in awe.
Robert from Bucanero sent one sweet birthday package.
The crawfish were just right, the beer was cold, and the weather was cooperative.
That was a great herf and a perfect end to my vacation.

Chest high water? It was only up to my knees lOL.

Which side of the bridge Barry/Mean? Freeport side or Galveston side? West of the bridge or east of the bridge. I'm thinking Galveston side, west of the bridge. There is a little cut just before the bend on the west side about 30 or so yards off the beach. Was always a hot spot for me.

There's a little wash out close to the bridge on the west side of the Freeport end that can hold a lot of bait fish. It's usually my backup flounder hole. All we could get was undersized specks and flounder. I kept my bait on the bottom (according to Ed I can't fish a float) so I caught the flounder, LOL.

Ed's brother has a very different approach. He catches the same fish 3 times, LOL. :!)

I forgot my camera but I think Bud got a photo or 2 at the party.

I too had a great time. Ed actually managed to get the best weather day for the whole week. Of course I sit here typing as Claudette is making up for that one good day.
Seemed like the wives had a really good time also - that's always a plus.
Ed the spread of food was great - me belly got full trying to help reduce the crawfish population.
I was impressed by the quality smokes everyone had brought and was sharing. Finally smoked my first stick from down south too. Yes, I lost my cherry.
