I am getting killed with popups lately. Can someone recommend a good popup stopper.

Okay, I will stay out of the porno sites but I still need a popup stopper...

Any suggestions?

If you can find it, PopUp Killer is great.

I have panicware type it in gogle it works great and it's free

Meaya Popup Ad filter works the best so far and I've tried alot. Do a search for it, download it, and drop me an email.

Norton Personal Firewall ... the only way to go ...

I use to use a software firewall, Norton infact, but I ran into too mmany problems and false alarms. I went with a nice router with built in firewall and all problems were solved. I don't even have a network. All I use the router for is the firewall and to hold my connection.

Don't have a pop up blocker for you, but I have a link for a fire wall that I think will do that as well.

Webwasher works pretty well. However, I use the Opera browser mostly unless a site just won't render well, then I'll use Internet Exploder. Opera has a built in pop up stopper that works well for most sites.

Penguin13 --- those weren't 'false alarms' ... just sites that you browser was trying to access, and it was making sure that you wanted to go there.

If you want to go there ... you just say 'permit', and then check the box below it that tates, 'always perform this task', and that's it.

You only have to do it once for each new site you surf ... then it'd done ... no more 'false alarms' ...

Slim - I'm not talking about those false alarms. Thats an easy fix just like you said. I guess there was a problem with Ameritech DSL and Norton Personal Firewall causing a "Backdoor subseven Trojan horse virus" alarm. I talked to Tech support and they said that it was a bug in there software. There really wasn't a virus on my PC. Plus, there are some nasty virus that can disable software firewalls if your virus deffinitions aren't up to date. I figure, for $39 after rebate, I'll stick with a hardware firewall that I have "complete" controll over.
