Happens here in AZ about 1-2 a year. I simply don't understand it. Happened recently a few weeks ago. Babysitter left the baby in the car after getting the other kids in the house. Realized she was missing the baby and went out to the car. Baby had been in there no telling how long. Gets to be over 150 degrees in a closed car here. Unbelievable.

To paraphrase an old Beatles tune, he'll have to carry that weight a long time.

Yes, and there are many of them.

I can feel some measure of pity for the person that does it accidently. Imagine the dawning horror as you realize what you've done. But the SCUMBAGS that do it purposely....to go in the mall or the hairdresser or THE F***IN' CASINO....have a special place in hell reserved for them!

Were drugs involved?

Sadly it happens all the time and drugs are never involved. I know of one case whereby the father thought the mother was taking the baby to day care and the mother thought the father was taking the baby to daycare, the fatehr still is not the same 5 years later.
Not to thread jack, but here in Minnesota, the thin ice claims more than a few kids each year, several families lost all their kids. I have an older firend who says this NEVER used to happen when he was younger, you just KNEW not go go out when it was thin.

This should never happen! I don't care if you have groceries or other packeages in your car, you take out your baby FIRST!
