And that means a night of drinking and smoking 🙂 I'm going out my favorite beer garden with a couple friends. I figure I'll start off the night with a Camacho Diploma, then go to a Bucanero Classic Maduro Belicoso, and end the night with an Avo 77 (which the generous Lowman gifted me) My question to all of you is, what beers should go with what cigars? I'm a Guinness man but I don't want to drink it all night long (even though I could) Any suggestions would be appreciated and if I'm still alive tomorrow I'll post some pictures 🙂

I like Red Stripes, good Jamaican beer.

But my go to beer is a nice Sam Adams or a Fat Tire.

Boddington huh...I throw that one on the list for tonight. I've never heard of Lucky Lager or El Producto. If they have those..they're on the list to. I'm not a big fan of Bass though. I was told (actually scolded) in Dublin that a Black and Tan is all dependent on the "House" your in. They will never mix a Guinness with Bass because they don't sell them in the same pub. At a Bass house, it's light and dark Bass and at a Guinness house it's Guinness and Harp. The trickey part is that they don't sell Harp in the south, but I do LOVE those balck and tans 🙂 Keep the suggestions coming...I'm making my list 🙂

The guitarist in the our band told me all of those B&T stories. He spent 2 years over there. You could be in a world of hurt if you order the wrong thing in the wrong place!

Ybor Gold...Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

well it's late and I'm back in the hotel. I had a great meal at the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City. I had a cuban combination platter that was very good. Afterwards I smoked a Gonzalez y Martinez that was rolled in the restaurant gift shop. It was good for being a fresh rolled cigar. Later I had a La Aroma de Cuba with some of that Ybor Gold. I can still hear the music playing outside so I'm about to head out to the patio to burn a short story and drink a cup of coffee before bed. It's been a memorable trip. I'll definitely be back.

Sorry, I didn't see your post until this morning. I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway. It was the wife's turn to go out with her friends, so I was home watching the kids.

We need to plan another HERF soon and get some of the other CBid'ers to attend.

Was a fun night. Had me a black and tan and a Guinness with the Diploma. Very nice smoke but I did have one beef with it. I let it go out while I ate and the relit. It tasted like crap! I purged before I let it die and after I relit it. This is one of my favorite smokes and have never had that problem with the others. Maybe it was too young. Blahh! Anywho, then came another favorite of mine, Hoegarden. Mmmmm, went well with the Buc. I also had a Boddington...not bad at all if I do say so myself. Then came the Avo 77. It started off very smooth, almost like a RYJ. By the end it was full of flavor and I would highly recomend it. The only thing that I thought was a little weird was that it smoked very fast. Almost like it was underfilled. It didn't get too hot but I couldn't smoke it down to the nub like I did with the Buc. Since Palmers doesn't sell hard liqour, we had to make do with what they had. So, with the Avo we had a couple Hacker Pschores and ofcourse, another Guinness. We're planning on going to Irish Times this weekend. Nothing beats having a smoke by the fire, drinking a pint, and having an Irish Breakfast at midnight 🙂
