I wonder how many of you knew that daddy Bush pardoned a convicted Pakistani major heroin smuggler in the last moments of his term? I am sure you all knew about this and have a well reasoned argument why it was the right and proper thing to do. But, aside from switching the focus from my specific question by bringing up some Clinton atrocicity, I would like to hear a specific rationale for why this is OK. Thanks in advance for the enlightenment. I am sure will be provided. I have been trying to figure out why this was the right thing to do because I know President Bush is incapable of anything less than Godly actions. I too want to believe so completely in a man that no matter what he does, I know that it is infalibly correct. Thanks again!

Puffy, you never answered my question, it wasn't a rude question, it was perfectly valid, but "silence"... You're not skeered to answer it are you?

Who did you vote for? Was it Nader? Come on, we won't laugh.

You guys are reacting just like I thought you would. Spinning every way but avoiding a rational response. Is it OK? If so, why? Is it wrong? If so, why?

No, but daggone at least put something credible up. I get slammed constantly for news links from FoxNews(because its too conservative!)and I'll be double-dipped if I'll let the "other side" get away with the same thing I'm schlacked with!

I did my own reading on this and found that this link

http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/bushheroinconnection.html

had better info(say, like the guys name and relevant FACTS!)than the bickering slanderous banterings that come from Salon.com!

It WAS Nader! I knew it!! But why not fess up? I voted for Dubbya, I'm not ashamed of who I voted for. If I'd have voted for Nader, I'd say it, but that's me.

Well, I still do not know whether it was the right or wrong thing to do....I want to have blind faith in all of the Bush Presidents. Help me to see. Or help me to be blind. Get me in lock-step with "the party". Make me a true believer wthout a trace of doubt in my mind...

I tried to read that article, but I didn't want to invest the time. It was lengthy... However, I would look at it like this, if a pardon was given, it was done for one of 3 reasons;

1. It was justifiable. i.e., the facts used to convict were impeachable.

2. There was a quid pro quo, i.e., Bush received something in return for the pardon.

3. Or there was some national security interest served.

Given what I know about the man, I tend to believe number 3. However, this is just my opinion and I have nothing to prove or disprove any of the potential scenarios.

However, this is one questionable pardon. How many did Bill issue on his last day in office? How many were "questionable?" How many of Bill’s are undeniably "number 2?"

That's all I needed. Now I too believe everything that the Bush Presidents say. I was just having a little trouble with that one. It is amazing what the truth can do. It is enlightening to say the least. I cannot and will not argue when I am presented with the truth. That is really what my question was about. The truth. Thank God somebody out there had it.

Who ever said that either Bush was infallible?

Supporting a President does not need to equate to being blind.

Puff, your question is undoubtably very leading, and therefore very misleading.

I am sure that there were many things accomplished by the first Bush adminstration that I do not agree with 100%.

But that would only confuse you.

And every other pea brain out there...

Yo Puff: Allow me to show my age to you since your reaching back into the archives. Remember back when Cain slew ( they didn't kill people back then they just slayed or slewed them ) Abel, and when he died did not God pardon him. So in closing I pardon you for this post. JonR

He probably IS pissed and will stay that way a long time ... pretty much the same as Bush pere and Perot, I'd wager ... in each case, the third party candidate siphoned off votes that swung the election in the direction it ultimately went.

tailgaiter, I think by reading your post that you called me a pea brain. By doing that you are in direct conflict with this website's posting rule that says not to post disparaging remarks about another user. There is no reason for you to call me a name. I do not appreciate you doing that. I don't care what you think. I may have some unflattering thoughts about you, but I will not type them in this chat room.

Interesting article. But it fails to answer the question 'why" which is what a good article should do. Why did Bush pardon the Pakistani?

If the article answered that question then you could expect rational answer to your question of if its ok or not. I can't answer you question because I simply don't know all the details.
