usahog, Bush has been using 9/11 as a reason for everything...the crap economy, the war in Iraq, etc. And I'm sick of it.

Conservatives try every trick in the book to discredit the EIGHT YEARS of economic prosperity under Clinton. Face it, the guy had the right economic plan. Bushes Sr. and Jr. just don't. Proof is in the numbers. Swallow that truth, my friend...it is right there. Clinton changed the economy for the better, Bush Jr. tanked it. When have tax cuts for the wealthy EVER helped? Never.

Hilary Clinton never worked on a Medicaid. She was on a committee in 1993 to explore a national healthcare system; nothing came of it. Leave it alone.

46 million americans without healthcare. Should be a national shame. But that's another thread...

John,
Like it or not, the tragic events of 9/11 did have an impact on foreign policy and will for many years to come.
America was fat, dumb and happy for a LONG time. Do you think we could have increased airport security pre 9/11?
The war in Iraq, although not directly related to those attacks, is not justifiable without them. At least in the eyes of America.
We have to face reality: Those who hate us are no longer content with jabbing us over seas. They are ready to go for the jugular.
And as is common with these extremists, the next attack usually excedes the previousl one.

NOBODY is in "favor" of the war.
But would you prefer a world with Sadam in power, or one without?

I choose the latter.

It's a good first step to my childrens wellbeing.

As for the "trifecta" remark:

It was inappropriate for a pre-conceived speech to contain such wording. But you know what the President meant.
In case your hatred has blinded you, I'll spell it out: The only three situations where GWB admitted a deficit budget was likely all occcurred in his first 18 months.
It's ironic.
It's not funny.
And the laughter (who ever was laughing) was to acknowlege the irony, not rejoice in it as you seem to imply.

And on a seperate note, a person fairly close to me had two terrible tragedies happen in her life within only a few weeks of each other.
In conversation, she said "I hope I don't hit the trifecta".
And yes, she even added the ironic laugh.

Do you suggest she is evil?
Because I know her and she is a beautiful person who didn't deserve to have such sorrow thrust upon her.

President George W. Bush is as human as she is.

Please wake up.

tailgater et all

your friend laughed as you said with an ironic laugh because of he fear another tragedy but fall on her. that doesn't even sound like an evil thought. it sounds like someone overwhelmed by things that have hurt her.

on the other hand, your tacky president thought it was amusing. much like when he mimicked that woman that was executed in texas who said "governer bush, please don't kill me." he made a joke about her begging. i don't know much about her, but i think she murdered some people and received the death penalty.

he thought she sounded so funny. he has no regard for anything or anyone but himself and his personal group.

i believe they are called the carlyle group.

this arrogant "golden boy of the manor born" really thinks he is doing things because he thought of them. he is a perfect stooge for his handlers.

i don't understand nor will i ever, why someone with enough money to provide for his entire family for the rest of eternity, wants more. but if i were one of those, i would have a bush person as my front man.

bill gates and his wife just gave some trillions or millions to set up an international health foundation for children. i haven't seen anything like that from cheney or george or his father or the carlyle group.

oh, and by the way, if you want sources, search for them yourselves like the rest of us liberals do. i was certain i read something about fending for oneself as a conservative point of view.

conservative means maintaining the status quo.

liberal means trying to find new and better ways to be civilized, fixing what's wrong and always looking to make things better for everyone.

Rick, are you a Marxist? If you were King, sounds like free choice and free will and personal property rights would all be down the ****...

Date: 1897
: the political, economic, and social principles and policies advocated by Marx; especially : a theory and practice of socialism including the labor theory of value, dialectical materialism, the class struggle, and dictatorship of the proletariat until the establishment of a classless society

Why do you have so much hatred in your heart for successful people? Is it envy? You should really let at least some of it go...

Rickamaven apparently has powers we mere mortals do not.
He is able to decipher whether a faint laugh is out of humor or tragic irony.
Why he and others feel the trifecta laughter was anything BUT gut wrenching irony shows his and theirs lack of understanding.
You may not like GWBs politics, but to suggest that he gets a kick out of 9/11 and the surrounding events is not unAmerican, it is f*cking stupid.
You have posted some thought provoking things, and you have posted items that show your hatred (yes, hatred) towards our current President.
But if you think Bush and his people snicker at 9/11 then he is not the one with a problem.
You, sir, are the one with issues.

i try to use my "powers" for the good of mankind.

i din't say he got a kick out of it, those are your words. i said he found it amusing. there is a subtle difference which you have tried to ignore by changing the words. it doesn't work on me or anyone else that has the "power"

i have been in business for over thirty years and never received a bad check that wasn't made good. i always know when i will get a bad check and only take a check that i know will bounce when i know they will make them good. it's a gift.

and i know if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.

Yes, Rick, it was I that said "get a kick out of", and you innocently used "found it amusing".

Either way, your objectivity is non-existent.
Your hatred has blurred your vision.

If you honestly feel the President is amused by the irony, then you've got serious problems.
And I honestly mean that.
