I POSTED A VERY BAD PICTURE ON THE PICTURE POST. I DID NOT REALIZE THE PICTURE AT THE TOP WERE THERE OR I WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED THAT PICTURE. MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES.

Rick,

Given your long history of civil discourse at this site, often despite the ad hominem attacks on you, I think folks will accept your apology. I did think it was a poor taste picture (I remember being stunned that Fox News kept showing shots of people falling). I am glad it is either buried or pulled from the Picture Post section.

It should not be forgotten that the term 'trifecta' and the ha-ha banter about it essentially degraded those very experiences. Though I found the picture to be in poor taste, I also found the remarks by the president to be in exceedingly poor taste as well. That point was not lost on me.

Yes, it does matter THL. I dont think that GWB said or thought that, when the towers fell. And, if you and JD think he did say or think that, then both of you are sick...

Mike,

Do a Google.com search before you call me sick:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020614-8.html

or a catalogue of how many times GWB said it:

http://www.rrstar.com/opinion/columnists/pat/20030911-21709.shtml

The first site is the official White House site. I think you'll agree that THEY aren't lying about GWB.

The second is the Rockford newspaper. Not exactly a socialist outpost!

Since you called US sick, I expect you to state here that GWB was sick for saying what he said. And take back what you said about THL and me.

"You know, when I was one time campaigning in Chicago, a reporter said, would you ever have a deficit? And I said, I can't imagine it, but there would be one if we had a war, or a national emergency, or a recession. (Laughter.) Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta. (Laughter.)"

This took Place 4 months prior to the 911.. you Frickin Liberal SOB's mix and Match the Statements Made because you can't deal with the F*ck-ups your own Politicians Make and try and twist and turn everything the way you want it to Fit your Warped way of thinking!!!!!!
That Picture plastered on the Pic Page is just a big part of how Warped you SOB's can Get... and then John your post above to Mag to smooth things Over???

get the Facts and Get the Dates CORRECT!!!!!! and stop posting the crap and dumb ass weblinks to TheOnion and dip **** Anti American Anti Bush web sites!!!!!

that pic that Rick posted was just that... and not really looking at it carefully because all he could see was a good one for CBid Pics to Slam Bush with...
instead it was a Frickin Insult!!!!!! Plane and Simple... Rick knew what I was asking him to post the web link for... I knew there would be one Liberal thinker out there that would post it not having enough smarts to figure out why I wanted to see it...

It Wasn't the Facts and you Tried to Drag GWB down with something relating to 911 as Par for the Course!!!

John I think I "Shot Myself" in the foot and so didn't GWB with his Comments.... but to drag 911 into it and the crap I see posted as negative Garbage towards the Military to slander GWB's Administration is also slandering the Military!!!

the twists and turns are still there and the pic that was put up was just a part of it!!!

Hog

Thanks Hog, I was also trying to get the timeline correct to figure this out. But, you beat me to it.

John, go ahead and twist words with half truths to make your points. If GWB meant it just as you say, then why didnt the liberal media jump on this story? This would DEFINATELY be the kinda story they would love to make a BIG deal about.

I listen to political radio shows all the time. I watch Fox every night. I try to keep up on politcal news, good or bad for the Dems or Reps.

I never heard of this before. Why? I think I know why now. Its because you have interpreted his statements in a twisted way. He would never mean it the way you and your libby buddies would like to let us believe.

Dont hold your breath for an apology...wait a minute, go ahead and hold it. I'll be right back...hehehe!

You know whats Ironic... june 14th 2002.. I was on my way home to my Newlywed Wife and arrived on the 15th June 2002....

and here on the 14th June 2002 my Commander and Chief was Laughing and Cheering with all those people in Texas and Cutting down the progress that was being made by His Military all the While we were working our ass's off to keep this Country of his and Our Safe!!!!

Amazing he would do such a thing....

Now to set the whole Storyline Straight JOHN... here's the rest of the Story!!!!

You know, when I was one time campaigning in Chicago, a reporter said, would you ever have a deficit? And I said, I can't imagine it, but there would be one if we had a war, or a national emergency, or a recession. (Laughter.) Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta. (Laughter.) But I want you to know we're making progress on all three fronts. I'm concerned about the economic security of the American people. I know there's a lot of focus on statistics -- this number comes out or that number comes out. Here's my attitude: so long as somebody wants to work and can't find a job, we have a problem. And my focus is going to be to continue to expand the job base of this country so people can find work. (Applause.)

We made a pretty good start when we cut the taxes on the working people. And it came at exactly the right time. (Applause.) There's a school of thought in Washington that says, if you take more of the people's money the economy will benefit. I don't read the same textbook. (Laughter.) My attitude is, when times are slow, you let people have their own money. And when they keep their own money, they spend it. And when they spend their own money, they demand a goods and service. And when you demand a good and service, somebody's going to provide the good and service, which means somebody's going to be able to work. This tax cut happened at the right time, and we need to make the tax cuts permanent. (Applause.)

In order to make sure people can find jobs and can work in America, we need an energy policy. We need an energy policy that, on the one hand, encourages conservation and makes sure that we promote renewable sources of energy; an energy policy that promotes the new technologies that are coming on line. But we need an energy policy as well that encourages exploration for oil and gas in the United States of America. (Applause.)

The nay-sayers and the skeptics, you know, challenge that policy. They don't understand the technologies now available that allow us to provide domestic energy and at the same time protect our environment. But let me put it to you this way. For the sake of economic security, we need a sound energy policy. And for the sake of national security, we must become less reliant on foreign sources of energy. Some of those sources don't particularly care about America, I might add. (Applause.)

This Congress needs to give me a trade bill so I can open up markets for Texas agricultural products, for high tech products. Listen, if you're good at something -- and we're good at a lot of things when it comes to our economy -- we ought to be selling them to people around the world. This country ought to be feeding the people of the world. I need trade promotion authority from the United States Congress for the good of the job creation. (Applause.)

We're making progress on economic security. And we've got a long way to go. But I just want you to know, so long as somebody can't find work that wants to work, I'm working.

And we've got a lot to do on homeland security, as well. I want you to know what I think about the people that we're fighting. They are nothing but cold-blooded killers. There was a bombing in Karachi. Innocent people lost their lives. Most of the innocent people were Muslims. These people, these terrorists, these killers have hijacked a noble religion -- but the world is seeing what they're made out of, what they're like. They do not value individual life. And for the good of freedom and for the good of America and our allies and friends, we're going to hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice. (Applause.)

We've made some progress. The other night when I announced this Department of Homeland Security, I laid out a statistic that said we've rounded up about 2,400 of them so far. Make it 2,401.

To Read the Whole Story... instead of Cuts a blurps leaves a person with a good feeling about Our President and his Administration and the Efforts of the Military to that Date!!!! Now doesn't it???

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020614-8.html

And Mag Fox News like CNN probably also took the Cut or Blurp about this with GWB... more Twisting and Deception!!!!!

I was wrong on the Date and Yep GWB shouldn't have tossed that out in his Speach...but to forgive him for it I would... because I don't walk around with Blinders on hell bent on GWB.... I know for a fact for being in the Military while Clinton was in Charge I took it in the Shorts and so didn't America!!!!!!!

I wish that Sick **** a Long and Prosperious Life... because I know he's going to meet a someone someday that is going to Judge his deceptions!!!!!

Hog, the written word doesnt always tell it all. What was his tone & body language like? The audience is laughing, not him.

Also, doesnt he have a speech writer? I understand that he probably has the last word on content. But do you really think that it was intended to be as offensive as it is interpreted here? I dont. Why would he do that?

In my opinion, some have interpreted Ricks post in this way: They are making it seem as though right when the towers dropped that Bush was happy about it. Like the 3rd thing had just happened, to complete this trifecta. Well, at that moment there wasnt a recession or war yet. So how could the towers going down complete this trifecta? It didnt.

If you go around the country speaking everyday, there will always be some slip up, or misunderstood word or phrase, sooner or later. And the Libs are waiting like Dogs, salivating over some meat, just to find any little thing. They would rather go after someones mistakes, rather than debate the issues, its easier.

Just my opinion...

Mike,

First, you say the quotation is 'too sick' for GWB to say, then you claim it couldn't mean what it seems to mean. This is a truth about GWB you'll just have to swallow, however unpleasant: he is willing to make jokes using a great national tragedy, trivializing it with phrases like 'trifecta.' He just doesn't seem to have sensitivity to human suffering.

And just because it wasn't on television doesn't mean it wasn't/isn't true. Damn, it was reported in the Rockford news, so it's not like this is some sort of secret.

usahog,

A few things...

...Bush is the one who is using 9/11 for political purposes. Not liberals. In fact, the very criticism I would make in this case agrees with you: don't use 9/11 for politics and don't trivialize it with jokes and cracks. We agree on this; we should agree that Bush is out of line on this regard.

...the military follows orders. Criticism of the president and his policies has nothing to do with those who follow orders. Criticizing one does not mean you are criticizing the other. I've never met anyone, of any political persuasion, who doesn't know this difference. Plus, on your theory, criticizing Clinton is the same as criticizing military people. I think you're picking and choosing too conveniently.

...the country did not take it in the shorts under Clinton. In fact, under Clinton many more people could afford shorts. Under Bush and his voodoo economics (listen to your dad, Junior!), all of us are taking it in the shorts. It's time for the president to admit failure of his economic plan and quite using 9/11 as an excuse.

John, yes we agree Bush should not have used the words that he did... How do you feel he's using 911 to his advantage for his Political Gain?? thats Bull**** and you know it... how would you run the Country after 911 I'm Curious??? would you do it Like Clinton Did?? Shake your Fist at what ever country is Guilty?? and Bomb a few Outhouses and tell the American People everything is all ok now lets get back to the Medicade package my Wife has whipped up for the Country???
Cut the Hell out of the Military and pass laws so the FBI and CIA cannot work together and get a clue as to whats going on???

just how would you do it John because it sure sounds like you've Obviously got a Bigger Clue on how to do this then GWB and his People do???

You Haven't woken up to Antharx for Breakfast Yet, so I think the Administration and the Efforts put forth by the Military Are Paying OFF!!!!!!!
and the Economy was heading to the Toilet before Clinton even left Office... and Clinton was Riding the Wave of the Previous Administration and then Cashing Checks on OuR Retirment System thats going to take a long time to pull it out of the Gutter... do a bit of research it's not hard to see what went on... and who really took this Country to the Toilet as far as the Economy... and even the Cost of 911 I Blame on Billy Boy... Why?? Because He could Have Stopped Osama and the Bull**** Terrorists long before 911 happened!!! but didn't he was to busy getting Blown Up in his Office!!!!!!!

and again I'll Say it he (Clinton( Cut the **** out of the Military!!!!!!! which to this day has a Major Impact on this Country and a Strain on the Men and Women in Uniform and their Family's!!!!!!

Rockford news? Rockford news who?

If this was as you say, then much more media than the Rockford news would have covered it. Lets say the LA Times for one!

Good try, but I'm not buying your interpretation. If the left wing LA times didnt cover it wasnt as big a deal as your lib source makes it out to be.
