hi i just started to buy cigars any ideas that i can try i have only had a couple monticristos and some romeo and juliets

hnshipwreck -- that's like saying, "I just started exploring 'adult beverages' ... what should I drink."

The choices out there are so numerous (thousands of cigars and factories to choose from) ... it would be hard to narrow it down, without you first providing a few parameters.

1) Light, medium or full-bodied smokes ...
2) Lengths and ring guages you prefer ...
3) Particualr shapes your like, ie. Corona, Torpedo, Robusto, Perfecto, etc.
4) Wrappers that you prefer, ie. Sun-Grown (Shade Grown), Maduro, Cameroon, etc.

These are just a few ... and once you provide us with a few guidelines, it will be a lot easier to guide you in the direction of a cigar (or cigars) that would be more to your liking!

Try some taster packs from CI, they can match virtually any style that you may want to try. Five packs and trades also may serve you well.

all i know is that the cigars i have tried were cubans from when i was on deployment and i only have like three left but when i go out next i will get more hopefully

A huge welcome to you shipwreck, and you will love this place!!! My biggest suggestion is to do a search of old posts or someones CBid name(handle)....and you will learn a lot! I do "all messages" searches on a daily basis.

Do an "All Messages" search for favorite, favorites etc.

Then buy 5-packs.

Let them acclimate in your humi for 2 weeks if possible.

Sample at least 2 before critiquing.

Most of us here have been and will continue to buy 5-packs indefinitely. Nothing like always having new cigars to sample.

Ideas?, Sure, you should try them all. Then you'll know what 'you' like. And when you do, and start trying other blends and wrappers your tastes will develope and you'll enjoy another whole level of smoking enejoyment, and it goes on, and on, and on.....and on.......aarrrrrggggg.....lol,

I would try to pick up a sampler or two from the trade boards. You'll usually get at least half a dozen of diff sticks to try. Great way to try a variety. There is a newbie sampler thread thats going on. I've had really good experiences with trades on this board. For what it's worth.

Remember, just because you try a Cameroon, and don't like it doesn't mean you don't like Cameroons. A "Cheap" cigar can suck, and a good one of the same genre may become your favorite! Get with me and I'll give you a little sampler!
