anyone have this problem? I have two Colibri II (that's all I know about the lighter...they're silver, rectangular) lighters and both get very hot if i hold down the button for over 10-15 seconds (the button in particular gets hot). is this normal? my last lighter didn't do this, but they both do it, so it makes me wonder if it's a defect or design flaw or if this is common (i've only had one other lighter before these) any ideas?

Rand and KoS I can relate to both stories.... heheh I have a Colibri ATL, you know the one with the knife and compas. It gets as hot as the wife after a bottle of tequilla... No seriously. Both lighters I have get hot. It doesn't burn my fingers or anything though. I don't like the ATL as much as I thought I would. It has the SST ignition system and is a kind of soft torch. Not like the Force V ones that look like a jet engine. Those are the ones I like. So I looking at getting an Oscar.

Every lighter I have used from a Bic, Crickett, to the expensive ones get hot if used for a prolonged period of time.

You might want to turn the flame up so it will light the gar quicker. You may be able to use the lighter for a few seconds less.

What part of the flame is touching or near the gar?
The tip of the flame is always the hottest so if you have the flame to close to where the blue or base of the flame is touching or near the gar the flame is not as hot and therefore may take longer to ignite the gar.

I have 2 Colibris and don't remember either of them ever getting hot. The Ambassador is my go to.

No problems with the Colibri.

I have a Prometheus that I bought a few weeks ago. The kind that has the flip up top. The top will burn the crap out of you if you touch it.
