hey, one and all:

my wife got me a cigar journal in december, and i've already filled it up! at five bucks a pop i can see how that would get pricey,sooooooooo... i made my own.

what i have: a template for a DIY cigar journal in MS Word.

what you do: email me, and i'll send it to you as an email attachment. you can print up as many pages as you want, grab a 3-ring binder, and you've got a never-ending cigar journal.

what's it got? place for you to paste your cigar band over the journal area where you can write out all kinds of info on the cigar you just smoked. trust me, it's a good idea to keep track of this stuff -- especially if you're new -- so you have a record of every cigar you've tried and what exactly you thought of it. when it comes time to bid on that familiar sounding five-pack or box, look it up in your own journal and read back what you thought of it at the time.

personally, i write it all up on the computer and print it out when the page is filled. paste on the bands, and tuck it into a page protector and store it all up neatly in a $2 3-ring binder. it has been serving me very well.

again, just pop me an email, and it's yours (and yes, of course, it's free!): BBELTRISI at ec.rr.com

I must have a good memory. I remember every cigar I've smoked so far. I bought a program for my palm pilot that does all this but it kind of got a little hokey to use. I also have a program called Cigar Traker that I got from someone on here a while ago. It seems like a great program. If you want to try it just let me know and I'll email it to you.

ajaroth: thanks much for the offer -- sound like a nifty program! however, i'm palmpilot-less, so i've got to stick with the old fashioned Word document. i know, i'm a dinosaur. 😞

i do remember every cigar i've had. i couldn't name them all aloud, but if i see a cigar and have tried it, i remember it -- generally. i particularly remember that i either liked it or didn't, but i often DON'T recall why that is. this has just been a handy way for me to recall the nuances that are important to me in deciding between dropping a fiver for Brand A or for Brand B. that sort of thing.

thanks again, though, for the offer! very kind of ya.

For the Cigar Traker just email me...

Cavallo I understand completely.. Sometimes I remember Exactly why I didn't like it. Sometimes it's just in the haze of the ordinary cigar realm.

Hey Cavallo and all others,
Instead of a complex journal like the one mentioned, I just print out the CBid page for all smokes I have won, and put them into a 3 ring binder.
That way it shows me how much I spent on a 5-pack or box, and I make notes how I like them for the future.

Just my .02

sent out about a dozen today. just email me if you want a copy. nothing fancy, but it's helped me a lot.

KNOF: that's a good idea for that purpose. this is more of a "my personal opinion" thing, though. i use it mostly to take notes on cigars when i try them and put my own opinion down about how it tasted, how it burned, if i liked it, did it have enough spice for my tastes, etc. also, i've only had one cbid buy. but i do use cbid's descriptions to look up quick info on cigars such as their size or country or origin and such.
