What “BIG”(I.E. sells well and is well know) cigar line do you think has the best looking label, box art and box construction?

Mine would be OPUSX and there is something about AVO I like too.

What do you think is the worst out of any “BIG” cigar lines?

Mine would be the regular macanudo line.

There are a lot of cool cigar boxes. The HDM Cigar de Arte, Oliva "O" maduro, those Montecruz boxes that look like books, to name a few. I find uses for them all the time and my nieces and nephews fight over them. Remember how cool it was to get one of Granpa's cigar boxes?

The ones that I don't like are these new triangle jobbies. A bitch to open and completely useless without the cigars inside.

oh, i dunno. the mayorga triangle box i have also had lots of little triangles inside that work really well as the bottom/floor of my plasti-dor. 🙂

best: toraño anything, but i especially like their double bands

worst: helix (which i love, sadly)

i've never bought a box, can't afford a box and so don't even look at the boxes, so my judgement's based solely on out-of-box presentation!

-La Aroma de Cuba

-Diamond Crown Maximus

-Padron Anniversary

-Montecristo White

-"O"

-Cuesta Rey

-All Torano...Esp. Tribute

-Bucanero Z, Peg Leg

-...and of course Opus X

Worst:

I really can't think of many I don't like, cause I don't buy boxes of cigars I don't like and that don't have somewhat of a good appearance. Sure, Padron #2000-#5000 has a pretty basic band and box....but I am so damn excited when I get a box of em', that I don't consider them in the "worst list". Just MHO though.

the macanudo's wooden boxes with the emblem halfway in the fron and it opend at a wedge-angle , the big ones make great makeshift humidors.....snug fitting !

Worst from a good stick ? Arturo fuentes cardboard boxes.

but thet do the trick of transporting them safely , which is what thier supposed to do !

I had a really cool looking Tribute box but the little woman decided it looked too nice to keep hidden in the cooler. So she took it from me and it is now hers. I did get to keep the cigars.

Worst looking Padron 4000 but like some ladies I have known looks sure are not the whole story.

Lots of great boxes!

Worst ones are the padrons, but you do not smoke the box! At least I don't!

Best: Opus X, Mayorga (I love the artwork on the label), Montecruz Negra Cubana (cool book box.

Worst: By far it is the Camacho Diploma. Who thought of that box???? Tiny opening in the Traingular box makes it impossible to reach in and grab one without having to turn the box over.

I like the regular Padron packaging. It is understated, and plus it is wrapped around some excellent cigars.

Best: La Aroma de Cuba, CAO Criollo

Worst: Ashton VSG- the boxes are lame, and every one that I have ever bought has residue on it from the big sticker that they put on it.

Oh yeah, the Cuban Cohiba boxes are pretty nice, even though they are wrapped around some overpriced (good, but overpriced) sticks.

Best: Wooden boxes (SBN or SLB).

Worst: SPB.

I think it's just me, I don't really like dress boxes.

you all should read "the art of the cigar label."

i don't think half.com is a competing site and you can buy a new copy for less then $15.00. skip a movie and use the money for this book. you will be fascinated by the history and the photographs of the early labels.

it details why labels were so impotant in the early 1900's. it is fascinating history of the stone lithography, embossing and gilding.

the book has pages and pages of pictures of the early labels. these were really works of art.

the author is joe davidson. don't get a used one for $5.00 or $6.00, get a new one.

I agree on the La Aroma de Cuba, and Helix as the best/worst. I would add in the best category Indian Tabac, both the Cameroon Legend and Super Fuerte. Also the Henry Clay H2000 is very cool. Oh, and what was La Perla Habana thinking with the Conga? Looks like it was designed by Playskool (remember that stuff from when you were a kid?).
