I've been smoking them regularly and i personally haven't had a problem. i think somebody got ahold of a bad one or a couple of bad ones and it's gotten blown all out of proportion. i like'em ! thier decent everyday smokes !

I've bought them several times. It's a nice cigar. About 15% of the time there was some beetle damage.
I don't know if it's the burlap they come wrapped in or what.

Personaly I don't care if there is, as long as they smoke ok. I'm going to get more.

Burn the little bastards up!

contend;
yeh, they're not always in there, but if they are you'll hear a little pop and might notice a little "nutty" aroma or flavour.

tasty πŸ™‚ i really haven't had it happen yet....but to think of all the times growing up that i've accidentally swallowed a bug........smoking a bug that survives on tobacco isn't too awful........tobacco infused bug....nutty flavor huh ? be a nice change while in the process of smoking one !!

The P Indios beetles ate my Coffin Chief right up. Yeah, thats the BIG one. Thank God for the coffin, it contained the little buggers and didn`t spread to my other "better" gars.

NO MORE PUROS INDIOS IN MY HUMI!

There are always tobacco beetle egg(s) in a cigar, so just don't let them hatch. πŸ˜‰

Well said aznaries78 πŸ™‚
At the local shop where I work, we got THREE boxes of Fuentes with beetles. Two from our distributor and one direct from Fuente. Does that mean I'll NEVER keep a Fuente in my humi?...HELL NO πŸ™‚
Just don't let your cigars get above 80 degrees and you'll never have that problem.

yikes -- okay, now that has me nervous. i haven't had more than 2 cigars at a time in my home until AFTER the hot weather season was over (in wilmington, NC). now that i have a humidor and a couple other containers with cigars in them, i'm nervous about what's gonna happen this summer.

we do have central air, but we can't afford to chill the hell out of our place, and it DOES hover around 80 in my den sometimes. any ideas on what i can do to prevent anything from hatching?

do cigars handle living in the fridge or freezer? what about storing them right next to an a/c vent? would that damage them?

If you store them next to the vent it will dry them out in a couple days. AC is a dehumidifier...
If you have a basement, that would be the best place for you. I wouldn't suggest storing them in the fridge for the same reason as storing them next to the vent. 80 degrees is about the thresh hold of the "safe" level. Hope you can figure something out πŸ™‚

hmmmm. well, thanks for that info. that'll keep me from doing something stupid! lol

nah, no basement. i'll just have to stick a thermometer in my den and try it around various places to find where a cool spot might be.

thanks for the tip, bro!

I've had no problem with the puros indios - don't think Clive has either. I just did a bit of rearranging with my sweatador today - make sure all the same sizes were in the same tray - putting my sweet gars all together - made it look rather neat LOL was very pleased to see how it is shaping up!

LOL @ Liz. I'm rearranging my cigars atm as well...

Cavallo. If your cigars are in a sealed box, I don't think setting near the A/C vent is a bad idea. Just make sure you check the humidity level in your storage units often to check the temp/humidity.
Don't go to the step where you freeze your cigars. Many people do that WHEN they've found a beetle outbreak. Other than that, stay away from the freezer (or oven if you want a maduro cigar :-P).
