I am planning a walk-in humidor in a closet in my basement. Any good resources you can tell me. Also, where do I find spanish cedar, either in planks or paneling? Thanks in advance. hoskins_c at bellsouth dot net

You can find Spanish Cedar boards advertised fairly frequently on "that other auction board." Also, as I understand it from reading posts, you can pick it up at building supply concerns (Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) but you have to specifically ask for it. May some other BOTL can give you more detailed, updated info.

BTW, I'm green-eyed that you actually are embarking on building a walk-in humidor. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I too am green with envy. I have the perfect spot and enough cigars to warrant a walk in, the only snag is a little thing called a wife.

Remember, aromatic cedar BAD! Spanish cedar GOOD! 🙂

Thanks for the comments to date. My wife is not crazy about it either, but we agreed that if she was able to decorate the rest of the house, the unfinished basement would be mine. As such, I am doing a full scale bar. Check it out so far at home.bellsouth.net/p/PWP-cockyhoskins

cockyhoskins I had that same agreement with my wife about the basement. That floor was mine and all mine to do with what I wanted. So far she has stuck to her end of the bargin and I'm actually getting a cabinet humi out of the deal cause she is sick of seeing my two coolidors out in the open.

I did throw her a bone and let her sponge paint the bathroom down there though. LOL

Smelly and I were discussing plans for a Garage-a-dor and working out plans for good garage door seals, a hidden ISOM lounge and a wet bar and 2 keg tap, etc. We figured 'gars come before cars when it comes to parking space. I figure we could store almost 100,000 cigars inside there.(much cheaper than buying 1,500 coolers)

Doesn't it seem like we're going to need that kind of space if we stay on Cbid for the next couple of years? Of course given our consumption patterns, we could keep these puppies aging at least 2-3 years before we replace inventory. Think you could have fun with a 30000 cigar 3 year rotation?? That way we could have a major league herf every other day.

Of course if things get a bit tight with those plans....Plan B....... a House-a-dor?? or pehaps something in the country, a Barn-a-dor. Perhaps up here in Boeing country, something I know many pilots would love.. a hangar-dor. Too bad they blew up the Kingdome.......

Maybe I could talk Paul Allen into the Exhibition Center-dor.

I've been saving my Padron boxes for a long time. Someday I'm just going to nail them all to the walls of my closet and put in a humidifier, LOL.

Regarding "french" doors for the entrance, most are pine. If you stain them do you create odors in the'dor? Should I use metal doors? Won't the paint cause same problem? Am I thinking too hard?
