New releases from the RTDA are arriving at my local shop weekly and I picked up one of these during a recent visit. I just nubbed it up and was duly impressed.

I know some folks here have strong feelings against Tony B and his product, but I've been a fan of some of the other lines for awhile and this one does not disappoint. The silky smooth natural wrapper almost feels like a maduro. The construction and burn were impeccable. The flavor was a bit harsh at the start (not overly so) and I initially felt that this would benefit from some nap time. By the middle and finish I was sold. There was a slight tangy flavor (not as in an aromatic) and lots of creamy billowing smoke. I'll definitely be picking up more - some for now, some for later. At $7-8/ea it would be nice to see them on cbid 🙂

I also grabbed the new Bahia Vintage. This one is supposed to be more of a kick in the pants (ala LFD double ligero) so I'll probably save that for tomorrow

I enjoy several of his sticks very much. Good schtuff. I like the red label, and I have some gold too. Good schtuff. I look forward to trying a blue.

Good question. About a week ago somebody asked about the Bahia red label. I immediately chimed in that I think they are quite good. The next 4-5 responses (mostly from guys you don't see here very often) made pretty venomous attacks against Tony Borhani and most of his produt.

Apparently Tony has a bit of an ego (according to these guys). He's a personal friend of my local shop owner who says he a really nice guy. Frankly, I'm not the least bit concerned with his politics or personality. If he makes a good cigar at a reasonable price I'll buy it.

Hell, even though our government believes we should boycott ISOMs because of a certain SOB, and there aren't many here that would turn down that forbidden fruit based on a megalomaniac being at the top.

For thos of you who haven't seen one yet, blue is really spelled Blu (with an accent). Kinda unneccessarily artsy, but it is a mighty fine cigar

Yeah, it shouldn't matter if the people behind the cigars are douche bags, i.e., I still like Buc's... The cigars are what should be considered, not the folks behind them. A bad cigar made by great people would still be a bad cigar, and vice versa...

I've only tried the one Bahia (damned if I can remember the color of the label.......I believe it was gold or brown) and I really liked it. A very full, flavorable smoke IMO, but with a little bit different taste that I can't really put my finger on.

I'd certainly try them again. I'd rate them a good (you gotta remember, my rating system is "very good, good, OK, and crap).

Bahia's are my favorite. I actually ot into them by trying a bundle of Tabacalaera Tambor's no band. Love the maduro Belicoso's.

I am about to try their b-line.
