Anybody on here smoke a pipe as well as cigars? I'm looking for pipes or pipe tools. Or just to see who tried pipe smoking and didn't like. Let me know...

Smoked a pipe while in college. More work and less fun than cigars. Taking a pipe means also taking tobacco. And the pipe tool. And keeping it lit. And a second pouch for variety. And you can't give one to a friend unless you bring another pipe. And...

You get the idea.

thing is, i'm stuck at the same beginning point i was when my uncle got me into the art of smoking pipes -- 2 decent pipes, a pipe tool, sweetener, cleaners, a few blends of tobac, a pouch. not much there to trade. :/ but i wish you luck with it, and good to see another pipe smoker here 'sides fudge and me!

BOTB heheh I was thinking Brother of the Bowl. Reminded me of High School for some reason. I hear you on the not be able to share one issue. I am just starting with the pipe and I think it works great for me. One tin of good pipe tobacco is the same price as one decent cigar. But the pipe tobacco lasts longer by far. I have a tin of Peterson's Old Kilarney and a tin of Dunhill Apertief... I like the Dunhill better right now. I only have two pipes and one is a filter pipe. I am bidding on a few estate pipes on another auction site.

Chris, I just now smoked a bowl of 1792.
Excellent stuff, lots of full bodied flavor. I didn't notice any effects from nicotine.

It got nice and peppery as it burned to the bottom of the bowl, and it really didn't bite much, despite a little too much puffing.

Should I have let the flakes dry out a bit before I smoked them?
I just took a couple of flakes from the bag and broke them up into small pieces and loaded them into the bowl, is that the correct way?

Good stuff, huh Zed? As far as "doing it right" goes, as long as you had an enjoyable smoke you were doing it right, right? I do like to rub a bit out and let it stand for a bit to dry a little though. Smokes a little more evenly without going out so much. As I said, you may want to only smoke it in a pipe that you don't mind flavoring as it WILL stay with the pipe.
No effect from the nicotine? Cool, you are ready for some 5 Brothers then. I know where you can get it in 1.5 oz. pouches for under $2. Let me know if you'd like me to e-mail you the website. Now THAT stuff is seriously strong. Haven't heard anybody who didn't think so. It also happens to taste delicious. But, man, if you've ever O.D.'d on nicotine you know it isn't something you want to experience again. If you do decide to try 5 Bro.'s, go slow and use a small bowl at first. Sure is good stuff. And cheap!

Well I spoke too soon, 10 minutes after I posted I started to get a little buzz. I am pleased I didn't go for a second bowl full :^)

Please mail me the address for the other stuff, I have a nice small pipe from CWF that would be perfect for some stronger tobacco.

My only issue right now is packing the bowl correctly. I'm always worried about packing it too tight.
