I tried one of these today.

I really did try to like it, but I must of gotten a bad one, cause it was just plain awful.

It looked good, but it was extremely soft and felt like it only had half the filler in it.

Should I try another one later or just say no? 🙂

Thanks

Don't do it.

Hey Tony,

You probably got a fair sample, of what they are all about. Reminds me of one of my favorite sayings.

"Only the mediocre, are at their best, at all times". I believe that is the best they have to offer.

Blech

Bought 5 Hamilton's Outhouse when they first hit CBid. Gave the other 4 to moocher buddies who don't know a cigar from a tootsie roll. I see they haven't improved with age.

Hamilton House = crap.

Hamilton Reserve = damn good smoke.

I have not seen these in ~7 years. Are they still available?

But when they talk about the cigar in some of the mags that vendors send me to my house, it get's glowing reviews? They go on and on about how it used to sell for 19 thousand dollars a box and now YOU can get one for the low low price of almost nothing! And they rave about how good it is? Could they be lying??

I amy not be the guy to answer this but I would say yes and no. During the cigar boom it seems everyone rolled out whatever crap they had and slapped a two hundred dollar per box price tag on it, whether or not if it was good. Demand was great and they could get away with it with thousands of novice smokers buying whatever looked good. Now that the cigar boom is over, the smokers that are left know the difference between what is good and what isn't (with some exceptions) and they can't sell them for exorbitant prices. They might be lying when they write glowing reviews but look at the words they use. For example: "During the cigar boom these were going for two hundred a box and people were buying them like crazy. Now is your chance to have a peice of this fine cigar for seventy five percent less than the original purchase price. This is a deal that you can't pass up for a cigar that was once rated a '90' by another magazine."

I usually take this to mean that maybe the first group of cigars put out were good and maybe they justified the price but in the end failed to live up to the hype and so we overbought like crazy and now we can't get rid of them. You definitely have to read between the lines. This does not mean that all cigars that are being blown out aren't good. Heck, there are people on this list that will buy bad frogs and lone wolf cigars and like them. Just be aware that you know what you like and stay away from anything sketchy.

If it says Hamilton House by H.Upmann, it's usually a fine mild cigar; just Hamilton's House is a pooch missile.

One reason I've never tried this cigar is because I can't keep straight all the different varieties. Some have gotten really good reviews (by "real," as in down-to-earth, everyday cigar smokers), and others get terrible reviews by the same folks. Depending on what variety it is. With my luck, I'd order the worst dog-rocket variety there is......don't know why I always seem to have a knack for doing that............???

Yep, I thought it was nasty. LOL!

Dan,

if you want one to try, I have an extra one that won't get smoked. LOL! e-mail me. tm @ batauto .com

Dave,

I would hate to see their worst, if that is their best.

Blech is right.

I've got a Hamiltons by H. Upmann, which was pretty good, so I'm curious how it would seem that they could have the same name on them by different companies. I am assuming they are different companies.

Thanks,

Tony
