The "Bush deficits"???

In recent history, federal budget deficits have been the norm, not the exception. The short four-year "Clinton surplus" was an inheritance from Reagan/Bush closing down the Soviet Union and ending the Cold War (look them up, kids), and the decision that a budget surplus was politically more beneficial than good intelligence and security. A great political strategy (which has obviously served its purpose) --- and the price for that short-lived surplus was 9/11.

I often wish that we lived in a perfect world, but I don't vote as if we do. Reality --- what a bitch.

What Thom said.
With the rising fuel prices, only two investments are solid right now. Petroleum companies, primarily producers, and defense contractors.

I'm not too heavy in it. My portfolio is only worth about $6,200 at present which is about 1/2 of what I paid for it. I was just hoping to cash out some of my Nasdaq stocks and use the dough elsewhere. Now I'll just have to wait.
