My cat just brought me something... yet again. I have no idea what it is.. or, was.. it looked like a mouse, but it was much bigger, but not a rat. Small gopher maybe? Groundhog? It had some serious teeth on it and was still breathing and bloody when I threw it in the "yard waste" trash bucket. I'm sure it'll make good mulch.

Ever heard a rabbit scream? She brought me a live one of those a few weeks ago... I couldn't catch it to free it, so I left it and she came back and killed it too...

Moths, frogs, lizards, birds, grasshoppers, crickets, mice, rats... she's a killing machine.

I have a "cat-door" for her, so she doesn't even have a litter box and comes and goes as she pleases... I think since she is an "outdoor" cat karma is going to catch up to her in the form of a hungry coyote one day...

Your cat is bringing you live animals because she is trying to teach you to hunt. Its a sign of affection.

I had a cat like that when I was a kid. She brought home a snake and a rabbit from a nearby field, and once even a guinea pig--no idea where she got that.

hey that sound s like a vol to me. Vols are bigger than rats and they dig holes in your ground like a mole. I think there was one on Deputy Dawg if that helps.

yes- oddly enough rabbits do scream.. most coyote
calls mimick rabbit "screams"..

We've four cats in the house, one in the garage/outside, four buried in the back yard, and two cremated sitting on the mantle.

"Killer" was recently diagnosed as diabetic, and I'm giving him an insulin shot every morning just so I can keep seeing that look he gets on his face.

I picked this particular cat up from the local pound a couple years ago. She purrs as loud as a harley and meows the same, but she is so damn loveable (with me anyway) ya can't get mad at her for putting bloody carcasses on the carpet.

I just bust out the "Resolve" and clean it before the wife sees...

One time my cat was sitting outside when the neighbor's dog got out--big fat goofy mix of who-knows-what, but a good eight times the size of the cat. She watched as the dog came barreling across the street, growling and barking, slowly stood up and stretched, and when the dog was almost on top of her, shot straight up into the air and straight back down, front paws windmilling, claws fully extended, and that dog spun around and ran yelping back to her own house.

That was a great cat.

How close are you to Penna? I want just one of my cats to turn into such a killing machine. There are hords of pidgeons and squirrels that need to go around here.

Cats, with a killer attitude, have a natural tendancy to "share" a meal with a person they love/respect. Your cat is paying you a great tribute.

ahhh so cat lovers do exist. I'll consider that myth a fact now.

wow, I hope my wife doesn't read that one. I brought a rabbit mask home for my fly tying and she absolutely freaked out. I was very proud of my beagle for sniffing it out of my fly tying box and pulling it out, though...

See... I had a Beagle and she is what made me switch to a cat. Very high maintenance dogs. If you don't pay enough attention to them (and they are the judge of that) they will rip up everything you own. And if you put them outside... they tear up your back yard...

I put food in the cat's dish twice a day. That's the extent of the attention I have to pay her and she loves me for it. If she wants more attention, she knows to jump into my lap. Very low maintenance.

Now... can I teach my wife these tricks...

No, i'm a relatively safe one... she doesn't really ever use the computer. Just my son and I. If she did, I never woulda hit post. Not if I wanted some of the good stuff any time soon... 😉

My cat brought me a couple gophers a few months back, but nothing lately. Years ago I had a cat that caught and ate squirels, whole, tail and all.
