I just called about a RAS (Radial Arm Saw) see the one I am using is about 25 yrs old.. damn good model too.. thing is it has a recall for a guard.. well the model number for this one doesn't have a guard fix.. so they want my arbor.. going to give me 100 bucks for it that includes the shipping.. then I can purchase another arbor for about 3-400 bucks ;0)~~~ Not.. I called a bit ago about a used saw only 20 yrs old go look at her tomorrow.. it has a guard kit that will fit it and I ordered the thing...guy says come look at it and make me an offer.. well you can't beat that one... now I'll be saving fingers and money LOL...

I have a roll around bench set up to accept the RAS and need to get this project completed to get on with the others on the list... Now for you project small shop woodworkers here's what the bench is (I got a frame/crate "metal tubed" from Kawaski 4 wheeler comes in. I cut the extenders down, flipped it upside down took some 2" OSD square tubed aluminum and 4 1/2 X 3 X 3/8" Aluminum flat welded it on the bottoms of the tubed.. drilled and tapped it for the wheel mounts and now I can adjust the hight of the bench if needed.. but mainly I can roll it out of the way when not in use.. the total length and width is 3 1/2 ft W by 8 ft L so plenty of room for my gluing clamping station.. Kreg drilling station and 1 of my router station

Got the loft completed but still have all my boardage standing in the middle of the shop.. waiting on my son to come give me a hand putting it above and out of the way...

anybody else scrap around their shop with this hobby??
I know SP does...

Welcome back. 30 year union carpenter (see handle). I have been putting my woodworking shop together for retirement in 6 1/2 years. Hoping it will keep me out of the bars.

I'm fairly handy with the woodworking but I've run out of room for projects. I mean really, how much stuff can you cram into your house? I'm not a cabinet maker or anything like that but I like do it yourself projects around the house (fences, shed, bonus room and stuff like that)

I don't own a RAS but my wife did buy me a really nice DeWalt compound miter saw a couple years ago. With that and a table saw I can rough-in just about anything.

Nice going there Hog, like to see it when completed. I have just finished another humidor (carcus) and will post a photo soon.

Oh, Woodbutcher, when you retire, you can build yourself a bar.....

I was surfin a website over the weekend, I had relocated after computer crash a few months ago.. found a contact on a guy I spoke with about some zebrawood (warped) I was interested in purchasing, well I emailed him about if he still had it or some of it.. he calls me a few minutes ago.. says yep still got it .. sold a little bit of it and that I had promissed him 700.00 bucks for the whole lot.. I said Wohhh Wait a minute.. I purchased some board ft off you and wanted to see how well it would work for me.. as far as price although I lost my whole hard drive my memory was looking at 450.00 for the whole lot... NO you agreed to 700.00 I said no we were going to see how well this stuff was to work with and then possibly me driving down to see how bad the warpage was and if I could use the rest of the lot.. but at that time the price was 450.. I remember the pricings.. Hell a guy in St. Louis with no Warpage has 200 bdft of the same wood for 400-500 bucks.. he started screamin at me tellin me never to call him again on any of his woods.. I said not a problem... and hung up.. man and I was havin a good day tooo... I was born at night but it wasn't last night... no frickin way would I purchase site unseen and agree to such a price as that for warped wood... I think this guy was warped himself.. sniffin to much sawdust...

Hog, yeah we have posted back and forth in years gone by. Glad to see you back, and glad to post a little again myself now that things have settled down here. I know you are located close to St. Louis, is the local you are trying to get back into in the St. Louis CDC jurisdiction (as you probably know they have merged with southern ILL)? If so shoot me an email. I may be able to help you out. woodbutchr at yahoo dot com
