You're right, its not that he prays.
It's when he pushes policies based on his own religious agenda. After all, we are a nation of different faiths and a president that represents only a small group of its citizens can not be a good thing.

I usually don't ever post on political threads, but I'd like to share my opinion on this topic...

Personally, I believe that the Christian traditions of the United States of America are not offensive. The line "One Nation Under God" in the pledge of allegiance isn't upsetting to me, and I'm a pagan. I just say it along with everyone else, just as a Christian visiting an Asian country might toast to Buddha or visit a shrine as the majority of the populous does who live there.

However, regarding the laws, one must keep church and state seperate. This country isn't a Muslim one, where the holy scriptures of the majority are the laws.

Most American laws regarding universal evils are fair, or not strict enough in my opinion. "Universal evils" being acts which most cultures shun: murder, theft, pedophilia, rape and the like. However, restricting one's reasonable personal freedoms based on the opinion of a religous sect isn't right, and isn't what this country was founded on. Reasonable personal freedoms such as serving one's country in the military, loving another consenting adult, living a healthy and happy life.

I'd say "One Nation Under God" a hundred thousand times if I could just become married or federally civil unioned to Tracy. I guess it's just my idea of not sweating the small stuff.

Again, this is just my opinion, and I don't want anyone to take this as an invitation to fight or the like. Part of what makes America great is our right to express ourselves and share our ideas with others.
