The same thing is true with wine. It seems that most every Cab or Shiraz is described as having currant and oak overtones, with hints of oak or even chestnuts. What the hell is a currant? And is there any way to tell the taste difference between oak and mahogany? Yes, we know it was aged in oak barrels. But if someone swithed the oak with another hardwood would anybody notice? pass the lox please, I'm splurging...

Can the different woods be tasted? I say yes. Those of you that do wood working I would think would agree. Sand a peice of cedar, and sand a piece of oak, or pine. When I get the dust in my nose, there are subtle differences in the wood.

AaaaahaaAAAA! A raisin is a grape and grapes float. Wood also floats. You can burn wood and cigars therefor tobacco must be made of wood, and that's where the "notes of cedar" come from.
