Well, I went to a level II ultrasound with my wife the other day since she is 40. They were wanting to do an amnio but we wanted to get these results first.

The ultrasound shows that everything is well and we declined the amnio based on that. No sign of any abnormalities but there is always a chance with pregnancies at this age of life.

They also bumped up the due date to Nov 30th from Dec 4th.

That's great!

The only abnormalities this child will have to deal with is you. lol

Dec 4th.....cool that's when my daughter was born. 9 weeks early! Of course, nothing compared to my boy who was 3 months early! 2.2# (they wouldn't let me name him Kilo)

So...know as things progress.....the baby will be fine no matter what! Amazing progress they have made even since those days! (18 years ago.....my baby just graduated high school)

Congrats and hope all continues well!

BD - Good news. I know that is a big risk/concern. The statistics really do a hockey stick.

You really should reconsider the amniocentesis test. It could spot a host of defects like Spina Bifida...how do I know? You don't want to find out. It's better to be informed and know what you're going to deal with than to put up with the consequences.

DMV, you are correct. This was a pretty extensive ultrasound and they spent a lot of time on the spine, neck, heart and umbilical cord area. I will have my wife speak to her Dr specifically about spinal bifida.

Tony, You're a better man than me bro... my wife and I had one child. She was 21 when he was born and I was 19. I am 34 now and i'll be 35 right about the time your little gift comes into the world!! Shoot for December 1st and if it happens on that date, i'll send you a fiver of Cubanski's!

My baby is bigger than his mother (by a long shot) and the little **** is already talking about customizing my truck (he gets his permit in a month or so).

Dad needed an excuse to buy that Infiniti G35... 😉.

It's gonna happen.

^ You're a bigger kid than your own kid!LOL

DrM, I know of some of the hell that you have gone through. You have probably held up admirably while many a lesser man would have crumbled. However, Im not sure how getting an amniocentesis will solve anything EXCEPT to terminate a life if the medical "expert" spots an abnormality. Yeah, maybe it'll prepare the parents... Instead,I would strongly recommend preventative measures such as no cigars(LOL!),correct vitamin dosages (see a nutritionist), avoiding flu shots for mom, and especially reconsidering the mmr vaccines which are suspected of causing autism. I can attest to that, with 2 autistic boys who regressed from normal/advanced development WITHIN a month of this shot.

All that I can say Bass, is congratulations on your upcoming baby. May you live long enough to have HIM diaper you! LOL

My wife and I also turned down the amnio because of the risks of pre-term labor.

Congrats and good luck Tony!
