Well I have spent the last day and a half reinstalling and updating the puter... everything is back online including what I have left of my address book...

Congratulations!! I know that this type of thing in a royal pain in the 6! I've done some PC and network support, and that sort of thing is no fun at all, even when you're being paid for it.

Well Actually Mrs. Hog did most the reinstall with the XP... We both worked together on this project... LOL

all the programs I had on here are just about all installed and updated...

MS Office 2000 Professional had so many updates it took the better part of the day to bring it back up to speed...

if anyone doesn't have already it is a good investment to install a slave drive... as this last virus knocked out my ability to back-up files with the cd burner.. and most all my info I had saved to the slave drive anyways so the only losses were the programs we had installed...

do you have a firewall, yo? if not, shoot me an email. i've got a program that acts like a firewall without the hassle, download it free. i've been pest-free since a BOTL gave me the 411 on such programs. before that, i was getting every invasive POS out there at least once a week!

also, if you use more than one puter, hook to a cable modem through a router, and that's a hardware firewall!

we've got 3 puters networked with more can be added...

finishing set-up on XP professional and Office Pro 2000 to finish out the networking process...

downloaded the newer Windows ISS6 version but its release isn't until Aug 30, 2004 :0(
