Cupido knuckles on Cigars International, $63 for a box of 25. Five-pack, $15.

You bid $75 for five 5-packs. It cost you $12 dollars to let them keep the box and not let anyone else try these cigars for a reasonable price.

true, but the best thing about this site is getting to try cigars at less than retail.

All auctions have this kind of action sometimes. I was at a customs auction in San Pedro once where not one thing that I wanted to bid on went out under high retail. People show up without doing their homework and get caught up in the excitement of bidding. Nothing to do but wait for the next one.

I see your point alfa. The thing is, if a shop breaks up a box into singles or samplers, you will see a markup of a buck or two a stick. When trying something new it is sometimes better to pay a little more for a smaller amount. I have bought some 5 packs of some cigars that I would hate to be stuck with a full box of. Having said that, I am with you on doing homework. But I find cigar comparisons fascinating! For others, it's a waste of time.

Geeze ... this horse was beaten to a pulp years ago ...

... and now there are some who will dance on it's grave.

Everyone has their reasons for bidding the way they do ... so let it go!

Besides, auctions are just what they are, auctions. No guarantee that you will get it for less than MSRP, unless you are lucky. Retail is a different story altogether ... and some people bid just for the game of it, even though they can get it elsewhere!

The thing is, when ranting about overbidders and flogging a dead horse, all posters are usually, in their own right.......... right!

I've done my part of rants against overbidders, and some of them are a right pain in the butt. - Butt, as in "ass". Or "arse" as they say in the UK. LOL! But I'd like to put things about these "Knuckles" in a little more perspective 'cos I've seen these on the net at $45.00 per box!!!! Now, what an arse that $75.00-man has made of himself now!

That's one of the good things about flogging. All parts/parties get to....... vent! Venting is good! Pointing out who's just made an arse of oneself is good!

I was at a country auction one time where a lady got so caught up in the action, she started bidding against herself (this is not a joke). The auctioneer asked her "What do you want to bid lady, $10 or $12? How about if we bid in the middle and call it $11". Then without missing a beat he went right on with the show. I was laughing so hard I almost fell in the floor.

If I ever hit the lottery, I'm going to set aside ten grand to come over here and overbid on any lot that anyone would ever want, and sit back and laugh when people bitch about it.

Since that's not likely to happen, I'll continue to bid as much as I think the lot is worth and anyone who doesn't like it is welcome to bitch about here.

That's cause I'm not beholden to conform to your standards.

I made my first purchase from this site about a month ago and have been very happy with it. Since then I have just been monitoring the action. Could one of you guys who have been using it for a long time help me out with some info? Have prices been going up lately? Does that happen from time to time but then subside?

We need more dead horse posts. This thread has got more responses than anything in the last week or two from you salty old herfers. Besides, some of us old cigar smokers who are nubbies to the site didn't ride this dead horse years ago. I'm glad to have a chance to read and respond to some ornery debates. Somebody post another dead one, quick. There are still a couple gars that I like that haven't got on the elevator yet. I aint sayin which. SHHHHHHH.
