I have another rookie question (a bit long). Out of the following cigars currently in my humidor, which ones would benefit from aging: 1)HDM Rothschild Maduro & Excalibur #4 Maduro 2)Mayorga Torpedo Maduro 3)Flor De Oliva Grand Maduro Robusto 4)Indian Tabac - Bear 5)Astral Perfeccion 6)5 Vegas Torpedo & Churchill 7)Bahia Maduro Corona Gigante. I want to know which gars I should be puffing on first and which ones will get more "character" from sitting. Also, how long should I age a cigar. Thanks, Ken.

I had an Excalibur maduro last night with 1 year of age on it. Oh my God. It was freakin fantastic. It was so good, when I got to the end, I ate it.

The origainal Inian Tabac Bear was good right out of the box. The bundled version they sell here definetly improves with age. After a year they are creamy and smoooooth. Better than the original. Great AM with coffee smoke. Barry

I have had great luck aging the 5 Vegas. Both the panatelas and torpedos that I had did much better with some humidor time.

Any cigar will get better with age ... I've got some with 4 and 5 years on them, that were gifted to me.

My oldest cigar is Montecristo Memory made in 1999 or 1998 for the Mellenium celebration. I keep matches away from it because the band is dated.

Cigars are better if they age!! Who can age the damn things though? I have several ISOM's that have 3 to 4 years aging on them!!!! Charlie

Guys who make cigars, like A. Fuente, say their tobaccos are already aged and their cigars are ready to smoke when they sell them. But what the hell would they know. I'd rather smoke a 1-day old Monte #2 than a 10-year old Lone Wolf.

Hey Charlie, if I age my last two Lone Wolfs for the next 5 years will they come around for me or should I just send them off to BMW for his tikki torch partys? I pretty much choked on the first three and don't want to repeat the process.

I think any good cigar that agracefully in your humidor undisturbed can only get better with age, given all the right condition.

Then again....Mean will eat anything! Seriously, I've said it before and I'll say it again....HdM's, Excaliburs and 1066s are my favorite overall cigars. Very consistant and not too expensive. My "go to" cigars for quite some time now.

If the cigar started out with decent tobacco, it will age nicely; otherwise you just have an older cheap cigar. When I first started bidding on Cigarbid, I won a pack of Xquisitos by Torano, I think it was. I smoked one and kicked the dog. Digging through one of my Rubberdors last night, I found the other four. I almost tossed them but decided to head out to the back yard (my smoking kingdom) and give it another try. In the light, I could see that these cigars had a tremendous amount of bloom crystals all over them. In the light they sparkled all over the cigar; lit it and it gave me tons of smoke and really nice spicy medium bodied flavor. These were almost a year and a half old. I have three left and I didn't kick the dog after lighting it up...but I did smoke it till it burned my fingers and yes, ate the rest. So don't bid on ANY Xquisitos...

Like Dirty Harry said: "A man's got to know his cigars limitations". I think any cigar will improve over time. But a lone wolf will always be a lone wolf.

Joe, to tell you the truth, I have never tried a Lone Wolf. The way they get slammed in this forum, they are either dead ringers for Opus X's and everyone dogs them to keep the bidding low, or they suck the moon. I don't bid on them because I don't really care for Opus X.
