I recently purchased some Drymistat tubes for my acrylic humidors. Problem is, now I have fu@#ing mold on my cigars. Is this an irreversable condition or are they trash? Thanks in advance.

Is it blue/green mold or white mold? If it's white it should wipe off, however if it's blue/green mold you're hosed. As far as I know there's no way to salvage sticks that have blue/green mold.

Was an off-white, fuzzy kind of mold. Maes it sound kinda cute, huh! Definitely not green/blue.

If it's fuzzy then there might still be a problem. Does it wipe off easily like a powder, or is it eating the cigar? The answer to this question decides if you're in trouble. If it's eating the cigar they get a new home in the trash can, or on the mantle if the mold is too cute and fuzzy to throw away. But definitely get them away from the now molded cigars ASAP!!!

Maybe not that fuzzy, yes it wiped right off with no residue.

Does "bloom" spread to other cigars? Its neighbor in the humi seems to be a little powdery too.

is it just in a patch or is it all over the cigar? Is your RH high, over 85%? If it's a patch and is really fuzzy then it's mold and it will spread. If it's bloom then you can expect the same type of cigars to have it at the same time, but it should be all over the cigar except the places where it has rubbed off. If it has more substance than dust then get'em out of there and lower your humidity.

Its in a patch, but does wipe right off. The cigars were of a differnet brand. To be on the safe side I will sh*tcan both 'em and save the tribe. Thanks for the info.

Don't toss 'em! If it's bloom, it's a GOOD thing, showing they're properly aging. The bloom results from naturally-occuring oils in the cigars. Make sure you watch the humidity level though. Check out the links cw gave you and you should be able to determine positively what the stuff is.
