The one on the left is burning now. The one on the right shall live to die another day. I have a 3rd, but can't find it, go figure, that has a different font yet. If I find it later I'll post it up as well.

If I remember the one on the right is the pepin rolled with the red block Padilla, the one with gold fancy Padilla is the new label. If your 3rd stick has the red block Padilla with additional numbers below the band it is the oscuro, little more rare.

Nice Gimbel -- enjoy and I'd be curious as to whether you pick up on a difference in taste (the age old question). I seem to recall that hnixon really hates these......

The Pepin '32 oscuro (2nd label with authenticity & lot #s) are freakin awesome! IMO, the very best of the 3. I smoked my last one about a month ago, I'd love a box of those! The wrapper is beautiful, a nice chocolate look

The 3rd one, that is hiding at the moment, has the font colors of the Pepin rolled stick on the right, but the font style of the new version on the left. So a red center with gold outline in cursive.

I'll go searching again later this weekend.

I saw some on the right in a shpo in MI. I bought one to see how it was due to the box not being signed by Pepin. I believe every box he did was signed. It was not awesome as the original but looked like the original. I asked the owner about them and he said they were not. He said what I thought. The box was not signed. He also stated that they kept the label the same right after Pepin stopped rolling for them for several boxes before changing to the label on the left. He said he had about 5 boxes that were not signed and tasted just like the new ones he had gotten iin. he had some originals and compared them and he said there was no comparison to the old. So therefore I was led to believe there were several boxes out there with the old band but boxes werte not signed so they were newly rolled.

Any opinions on this?

You are correct. Boxes that are from '08 with the uncello sticks and old labels are most likely the new blend. I believe the Pepin sticks were all in cello at that time frame.

No idea on this one....I was under the assumption that there were indeed old labels left over, and used when production moved strictly to Padilla....But not every stick rolled in Pepins factory were "signed" by him. I could be wrong though....

I don't know....that's a whole nuther level of old vs new 32 that I don't want to even begin to try and figure out.

Make sure the box is signed by Pepin. I understand when he stopped rolling for them, there were some left over bands and they used them. Only way to differentiate the 2 were the boxes being signed or not.
