that is not as flip an answer as it might seem. jews have a sense of humor about themselves. how else to surive the years of persecution.

jewish comedians founded show business in this country.
the history of jewish comedians from yiddish theater in new york to almost all the radio comedians and i the beginning, the tv shows, demonstrates their influence.

so, as they say, who better to insult then us, we know how to laugh at ourselves.

I caught a documentary a little while back on Jewish comedians, highlighted their roasts and the big names in the business. Some of the biggies and truly long lasting names!
