M, Check out the new LED's that come on a reel and you can cut them to any length you need and they stick to whatever you want them on making them easy to hide along the back of a cabinet rail. And they only use about a quarter of the energyof rope lights plus there's very little heat emission if any if I recall. If you or the OP is interested I'll get more info.....
