More Americans were living in poverty in 2010 than at any time since at least the 1950s, with the overall poverty rate climbing to 15.1 -- a 6 percent jump in just one year -- according to Census figures released Tuesday.

In unrelated news, the "Re-elect Obama" campaign is in full swing!

The poverty level is the highest it's been in decades.

In other news: Americans are obese, and new cell phone surcharges will make it difficult for those on welfare to keep their third smartphone while traveling abroad.

That said, there is an easy fix. Cut the poverty level in half. Overnight prosperity! Easy peasy.

talking news head just said 1 in 6 americans living below poverty level. how do they define 'american' these days? how do they collect and measure this data?

I guess I was with 1K+ folks at Sunday night concert in Reno who aren't in this demographic.
