Thanks for clarifying. And you are right that if the Cuban people take offense at that term, that is news to me. I used the term to refer to the cigars from Cuba, not the country or people. Based on what I have seen, the phrase's etimology seems to stem from the desire of some not to specifically reference cigars that are illegal. If it is a derogatory term that some use outside the cigar context to refer to Cuba, I did not know that.
