Smoking my first one.

Flavorful but verging on being obnoxious with the ammount of smoke this thing is pumping out. Weird but the resting smoke is kind of reminding me of several Opulence 3 that I had smoked (experiment). Sort of has a burning oil type of smell to it. The O3 was a San Andreas wrapper, is this the same wrapper?

Have a few more, will save for an open air environment to see if that helps, should certainly keep the bugs away in the summer.

maxharry,

Yes, it has a San Andreas wrapper. I actually enjoyed the one I had, until the sucker split right down the middle.

Chris,

You haven't seen one off the VSU scale until you smoke a PDR 1878 pigtail maddie (not available here). There isn't a smoke I've tried that puts out anywhere near the smoke that one does, and it's wrapped with a Brazilian Arapiraca.

hmmm...I smoked my first LP Undercrown a few days ago, and it only registered a high 3 (3.8/3.9). A little disappointing based on what others have reported here. Flavor was also less than expected. I bought 2 at the local b&m a few weeks ago. I'll let the other sit awhile longer before torching it.

As close to a 5.0 as I've ever smoked, and I've had to have tried over a 1,000 different sticks by now. It's a Pinar del Rio stick. Black double band with silver edges. Band says "PDR 1878 Cubano Especial Capa Maduro" and it's finished with a nice sized pigtail. There are other wrappers in this series, but only the black banded maduro puts out the smoke. Mild cigar, so it needs to be your first smoke of the day. I usually like them before breakfast with a cup of joe. Oh, and it can take serveral minutes and 3 or 4 lights to get this one going, but once it does, it's a freak'n chimney.

I'm at the RV right now, but I'd be glad to send you a couple to try once I'm back in town next week. PM me your address if you're interested.

I posted a similar observation about the Undercrown last week. Tons of "resting" smoke. Thought the darn thing was on fire... well, in a way it was. But I did some reading and, sorry not to remember where I saw this, but one botl observed that a kind of wax was applied between the binder & wrapper that causes this. I will admit, it smelled like a candle burning in the middle of my cigar! That said, I enjoyed the Undercrown, and will make sure there is plenty of ventilation when I fire up the next one.

Tends to be the Liga Way. I had a FFP during the Super Bowl and it was smoking like a chimney. Quite tasty as well. I seem to remember the last LP 9 I had was smoking like crazy as well.

For what it's worth, my opinion of the Undercrown is that it was a bit underwhelming. The flavor definately wasn't there (yet) and just tasted young. The one I smoked didn't seem to have much kick either. I think these will age into a pretty tasty smoke with about 1.5-2 years on them. I hope they don't get too much more mild. JMO. They DID put out a bunch of smoke though, which I like.

knokmdwn is dead on here...

Watched a buncha guys descend like vultures on a few UC boxes at a local. Wild. Also concerned about these getting milder with age but I'm sure we will find out in a few months how the OR are fairing.

My thought exactly on the aging of these, although I did like the few I have had. I did not like them enough to buy a box, or even hunt 5ers, though. Tasty, but not amazing, imo, and I have many cheaper sticks that impress me more.

I consider them Liga Privada "lite". Unlike the Unico series, 52's and 9's, these are readily available. As watchurai said, there are cheaper sticks that are more impressive.
