Sweet pea, do these say Dominican made on the cigar ? When I was there I seen many like this that had the ''Hecho en Cuba'' on them. Those were absolute fakes but if they are not claiming cuban origen then they are something I've never seen.

Band says DR I'm pretty sure.

Guess it depends on where they came from. Was out at a place with a bunch of shops that had all kinds of ''brand name'' cigars and you could barter with them. It was funny because you could get a box for 10 bucks if you held out long enough, never bought any though. Did a bit of research before and if your outside the free trade zone any Dominican cigar can be cheaper shipped to your door from any of the 6 million places here.

That band is the exact band I was referring to in the other thread over in Trades.

Designed to be a moderate "copy" of the CC band. And from the looks of the other pics of the boxes that factory has stepped up their measures to imitate with the total presentation.

The ones I acquired many years ago had very poor quality (for a DR cigar) and were just plain unsmokeable to me. So bad I didn't even think of forwarding the rest to the Troops via OpFTH

If you are overseas and don't know a ton about each cigar and it's authenticity, most people don't. Like a ton of info about it, only shop at LCDH's. There are a ton around the world.

I bought it at a super center called Plaza Lama. They had a bunch of other cigars but I did not take the time to look at them. Their prices were fixed and you could not barter with the people for them of course. When I asked the guy behind the counter a few questions about the Cohibas he not only said they were the best cigars the place had for sale but also that they were the best or highest sellers. I believed him cus there were a couple of pricier cigars he could have suggested for me to buy but he didn't. Even if he had I would not have cared cus I was only after the Cohibas.

I wish I would have paid 29 bucks but no, I paid almost 200 bucks for the two boxes the one of 10 and 25. (Corona Especial and Robusto). But now I only have the 9 and 15 left of each. I thought that it was a very good price since I new they sell these boxes in the US for about 250-300 or 11-12 bucks per cigar.

If these are Cohibas that say Dominican Republic on the band, they are counterfeit cigars. They are not a Cuban counterfeit, but are counterfeit all the same. They are supposed to make you think you are buying a legitimate Dominican made Cohiba ie. General Cigar's Cohibas.

They really ain't too rare either. I have one. I keep it in a box with my other counterfeits.

The ATF just seized a whole chit load of these in Miami a few weeks ago.

That's what I was getting at.

Just wanted to see how bad he got screwed.

A few years ago I too would have fell for it.

Since I've been able to enjoy CC Cohibas from Buckwheat,Poolcue and others I won't make that mistake now.

I can truly say that I am disappointed; I probably won’t be buying Cohibas any more (I have a lifetime supply, JK)... I'll try something else from my local cigar shop next time. Something good but cheap. I won’t be throwing all that money at cigars anymore.

These are good, don’t get me wrong, I like them but it will take me a while to smoke them all.

Sorry sweet pea, but like I said before I'm positive they are fakes. Thanks for posting all the pics and giving us all the info. Don't stop throwing money at cigars just yet! But I would advise sticking around and learning a lot more. Unfortunately you can't trust everyone trying to sell cigars. Sucks that so many people sell fakes nowadays. If you ever want to buy some authentic cohibas dominican or cuban I can help out.

That is a bummer bro. But if you like them, smoke them. Most will tell you the same here after a purchase. There's little thought to what it cost to herf in a given evening or pass smokes to fellow brothers.

Need a new humi??? Set-up a small cooler and save the smokes if you like them. Had many Cohiba's and a few CC's. Wouldn't let it deter you from buying others, just a lesson learned that's all.

Thank you cacman, thank you Marcel. I will stick around here for a while; I want to learn more about cigars and how to tell the fakes from the real ones someday. I will definitely keep some of these and give some away (actually I already have), they will be a reminder of a lesson learned indeed cacman.

I will take you up on that offer soon Marcel! I still want to compare these with the real deal.

And thanks to everyone that helped and gave their support by posting here and on the other thread!
