The DNC had to make a choice; and they made it... they have been trying unsuccessfully for nearly five years now to keep their uneasy coalition together by simply saying, "We're not Bush". Didn't work in 2000, didn't work last election. I was having coffee with my son and his gf in Seattle right before Christmas (oops... I mean the winter solstice holidays...) and they nearly caused a coffee nasal incident on my part when they said they thought the reason Kerry had lost was that he "didn't run far enough to the left"...

That may have been true from their perspective; but I really think a more objective view is that the Dems are in a basically unwinnable scenario... if they continue as they have, simply saying "no" in the loudest voice possible to anything the administration puts forth, they go down in flames in '08 as the party of obstructionism. If they go left, as they seem to have done with the selection of Howard Dean as DNC chairman, they alienate their moderates, who defect to the Republican party, and they go down in flames in '08.
If they move to the center, they think their left wing (where most of their $$$$ come from)will scream about a second Republican party, defect to the then-current incarnation of Ralph Nader, and the Dems (guess what?) go down in flames in '08. In the immortal words of Bart Simpson "yer damned if ya do, and yer damned if ya don't." The only way they could win IMHBTAO, is to say the heck with the left wing, move toward the center, and somehow articulate a real alternate plan and vision for this country... something I don't believe they're much good at, based on listening to the last twenty years of their rhetoric. And... (and this may be the most important reason they went with Howard Dean...) they are so afraid of losing the BIG BUCK$$$$$ coming from the likes of George Soros et al that they're afraid to even try.

Just my $.02

the sad thing is... for Hillary to even have a shot at 08...she would have to jump fence to the Repub side of the house.. and for her this isn't a far fetch and scares the hell outa me... because this country will not notice what a cut-throat she is and accept her in (devil in disguise) she would have a chance at the whitehouse and my box of #4 Montys LOL.....

It's a shame to see the Balance in Washington get blown away for the all mighty dollar!!!!!

No problem! He's loaded with more chemicals in his system that a twinkie! In the evnt of a nuclear war the cockroaches will have to compete with Ozzie, and Keith Richards! Knowing those two, they'll proceed to interbreed!
