So you vets I need input. I store my sticks in a couple of coolers. Both at 67% at about 62 degrees with oust fan to circulate air. Do you still get some sticks with just bad construction that will have problems. I had to pitch two nice sticks because of cracked wrappers in the last couple of days. Advice welcome.

Thanks

I like my humidity a little lower, but yes, sometimes you just get a bad stick. If it's a nice cigar, and the wrapper cracks, I'll try to work through it, instead of just tossing it right away. My first Undercrown Rob split after the first inch, but the flavors where so go, I nubbed it anyway.

Yea once in awhile, but not too often. It was probably before you put it in the humi. Did you get those specific sticks from someone else? Maybe shipping hurt them, etc.

These sticks came from cbids and have at least 4 months of rest. I as a rule let everything rest 30 day before smoking. It is just hard on stuff to get shipped up here.

Same brand of stick?

Maybe dry dry-boxing for a day.

Do you rotate (he comes a few comments)?

I will try dry boxing but probably only for a day. Pretty dry up here. Two different brands bought at different times. And I dont get to rotate much because of playing box Tetris so I have them fitting just right. I had an issue with one tat Fausto tonight and had to pitch it. Second one was just fine.

Really dry here too. I only dry-box for 6-8hrs up here - basically set them up at lunch for Happy Hour.

Have found when my cooler is packed tight there seems to be areas where it is a little "wetter" especially at the bottom even with fans. My cooler sits on end like a cabinet with humi beads & fans in the rear. With some shelves holding two boxes deep, I do like to occasionally switch front to back. Will also switch bottom shelves with top. Seems to help with balance. Cooler also sits with rubber feet on a cool concrete floor so I'm guessing that also has some effect.

Unfortunately bad construction is inevitable with any... it happens

I need to rearrange some stuff after I got a bigger second cooler. I have mine bottom down, traditional presentation of a cooler of you will, with beads on the bottoms and fans blowing over the beads. I keep my coolers in the crawl space this time of year because of constant 62 degree temps. I am guessing after this advice that maybe I just got a couple of bum sticks.

^^^ A bigger cooler is always better.

Just another observation - Moved my fans so they draw air away from the beads as opposed to blowing over them. Doesn't dry them out as quickly. Don't know if it will help you but it did in my cooler.

It'll depend on temperature as well. If you're like me, inside in the A/C is in the low 70s. Outside yesterday was 99. Quite a chance in temp! That kind of change could cause problems with wrappers too.

I know people say 70/70 but ever since I started keeping mine at 65/65 I haven't had any problems at all. But I have a 25 count humi not a large cooler so I'm not sure if the fact that mine is smaller with less sticks to humidify has anything to do with it. My locker at my local that I keep my best cigars in keeps the humidity a little higher than I would keep mine at my house & I haven't notice a problem YET but I'm keeping my eye on it.
